Thank you for this video. This is the first time I've grown nasturtiums from seed here in the Arizona desert and they are beautiful. It is great to know how to collect the seeds they are producing.

Thanks for your very informative video. I was given nasturtium seeds about 15 yrs ago by my son. Every year since I have had a beautiful show of nasturtiums. I never have to plant the seeds, they self-seeded but would like to grow some in pots & didn't know how to store the seeds for the next season as many other types of seeds are kept in the refrigerator. Many thanks.

@@carriesgardeningchannel856 - mine range from pale creamy yellow to vibrant orange, bright red, bright yellow and dark red. The original seed packet was a mix of colours. They seem to go back to the original base colours after a few seasons as seeds do but now & then some unusual creamy pale yellow and dark red ones appear.

Mine take forever to produce seeds...it's usually November and there are lots of immature seeds. If I have at least a cup of green seeds sometimes I'll make Capers out of them

I'm in MI and my seeds are green and robust. Do i have to wait for them to turn brown or wrinkly or "loose/falling off" or can I pick them now? Please advise asap as I don't want to lose them to frost. Thanks for the great video!!!!

Hi Carol, If you touch the seeds and they fall off in your hand then you can just take them inside lay the seeds out on newspaper and let them dry. Your welcome for the video!! Happy Gardening! Carrie

@@carriesgardeningchannel856 we are getting to overnite liws in the high 30s/mid 40's and they're not ready. I pinched the blooms until a month ago so they are late to seed. Will the cold temps kill the seeds? Should I move the plants into my shed? Some of them are still producing buds! Lots of firm, green seeds tho. Thank you for your reply! HELP!!!

Hi Carol, Do you have a heated area where they could be overnight? You could try a frost cover if you have one of those. They tell you not to freeze nasturtium seeds as it can kill the seeds. I hope that helps you. Your welcome.

Hi I collected a bunch of nasturtium seeds last year and put them in a tiny bowl and left them out on the window sill - do you think they are still good or should I start over? I live in mild climate near San Diego, near the ocean but it's also a desert-ish area.

Sunlight an heat can ruin the seeds, but you can still try them.

The seeds are edible as is the entire plant. Some people pickle the seeds. Sort of like large capers.

I think when they have finished growing they will fall off in a green colour. After they have fallen they will wrinkle a little then turn brownish/tan colour in time. Once they finish getting nutrients from the nasturtium they turn. 🙏👍 I am very new to gardening and have lots of nasturtiums that have self seeded for the last 4 years. My mum was the gardener and planted them. Over time they kinda took care of themselves. This spring (Australian) I have needed an outlet for my stress (frontline healthcare / nurse worker ) and have been doing lots of hours. So to get myself out into the fresh air I garden. And maybe a few KZread videos to help ❤️🙏
