    ** Unfortunately my Co-Host Bob was under the weather this weekend and wasn't able to join me for coffee. Good news is he should be back next week ready to go. A good Friend of mine and longtime collector of Comics (Grail Comics that is) stepped in and joined Comics with Bueller for the first time. Please enjoy the show, lets talk comics and drink some coffee.**

    Overstreet is cool to have but it doesnt determine the value of books these days, ebay does. If overstreet tells you a book you wanna sell is worth 30 bucks and its selling on ebay for 20, 20 is what your getting for it unless maybe you're dealing with a newbie or something. And on the other hand, a book may spike tremendously AFTER the latest overstreet guide, and youd just be fucking yourself hard if you sold it based on overstreets price. Neat book, but obsolete.

    I agree in some and most case Overstreet is overpriced. I really miss the paper comic guide called CMV comic monthly value the prices were more real and you knew what you what you were going to pay for that book. Dont get me wrong I like the articles from dealers all over the U.S. speaking on whats trendy or not. Its a good paperweight with other good info!

    I’d love to find a shop near me that prices their books with over Street, major deals to be found that way as a customer. But I guess that’s why it makes sense that most of the places that continued to do that subsequently went out of business.

    Omg I agree with Mr Bueller. I get new overstreet price guide every year. Great resource. I use other resources as well. It’s a good foundation for prices. It can help you with books that are not hot. It also categorized things all in one spot Annually etc. not just keys. Also love the top 100 lists the articles and the trends and speculations as it not only gives you one persons opinions but several. It’s a great book. It’s just one of many tools

    Hello Bueller thank you for reminder I left my answer on last video you did but just in case you didn't read it here it is again. If you are collecting DC Comics you need lots of money, if you are collecting Independents you need not quite as much money, if you are collecting Marvel you can find that crap for free in dumpsters all over the USA

  • @wylier

    @wylier

    3 жыл бұрын

    This seems kind of 'off', to me. Many Marvel titles are very popular. I have seen DCs and 'indies' for sale in dollar bins just as often as Marvels.

    Luckily my LCS uses Previews ordering so I make sure I go in every week online to the Previews catalog and order what I want so I don't miss obscure books.

  • @nathanielkraft5598
    @nathanielkraft55983 жыл бұрын

    Buying Independents and picking up cool Kickstarter and Indiegogos has been good for me in terms of investments. In the last few years I've seen a fairly good return on books like Rags, Punchline, Year One, Patriotika, etc all from grabbing their first print #1s or their crowdfunding prints before they became 3rd print books at a indie studio. It's good advice to take especially when Indies will probably be the future as DC and Marvel look to print less books. The other great source I have is I found an amazing LCS who really takes care of me in an area where there are 6 or 7 comic shops within 30 minutes of each other. It's a small shop so they don't keep stock of very many titles outside of some of the main Marvel, DC, and Image titles so they really push Diamond Pre-orders and will buy literally anything you ask them to get for you if it's in stock. Quite often they'll set aside a book that is hot and sell it to me for my 20% discounted cover price even though it's selling for $15-$30 everywhere else (recently those Cates Venom issues that are jumping in price immediately). I was lucky enough to get Dugan's Dead Rabbit 1 and 2 the day they got pulled from shelves for $6 total when he had to change the name to Dead Eyes and the books got recalled all because my shop knew I'd like the book. A cool story is very recently they came into an estate Collection full of a lot of Silver-Modern keys and rare oddities and because I've been such a good customer for them they set aside books they find while they go through it all that they know I may like and give me first dibs on it. I've been able to build my Collection of older keys through them at a lower price range then if I went through eBay or an online shop/auction. So I genuinely recommend people who have some local options shop around and to talk to the people that run the shops and work out a pull list instead of just buying what's on the shelves every so often. Maybe a few years down the road, they'll treat you to some high value keys at a fraction of what it sells for on ebay. It took me going to three different shops to find my main one, and I still visit a couple of the others every so often to see what they have as well.

    At first, when I started collecting, I was going into the hype with all the spec money promises. Then I found myself lacking the joy of collecting the piece of art that comic books are. Fortunately, I started watching Bueller's shows and videos, and started collecting what I really love like Bueller recommends. Thank you for the advice pal. I'm happier now that I have what I love, and not what others may like.

    Budget is a smart thing.....but I used to buy duplicate copies by accident. I would forget I had the book, and saw it and thought, oh I need these issues. I would go to put it away, and boom....there was the other one I had....it would get annoying, but it mostly happened when I was traveling, and I didn't have access to my books, so I was just grabbing them because I was so far from home. Now, when I got to where I am now (settled for now...lol), the extra copies I would give to people at work whose kids enjoyed the comics. I kept the nicer copies, but someone got to enjoy the extra copies. Just lost a little money....but so it goes.

    Can't go wrong buying blue chip key issues CGC like New Mutants 98, Hulk 181, Batman Adventures 12, Wolverine 1 (solo series), etc.

    A couple of years ago I told myself, I’ve either gotta sell books to recoup the money I spend on books or I’m gonna have to quit, so that’s what I’ve been doing ever since. It’s starting to get harder tho

    My first Overstreet was number 8, and (other than a couple of random years where money was tight) I have bought them every year since then. I have a near-complete run now from issue 6 to 50 and I just bought the facsimile edition of the number 1. And someday I will get around to filling those gaps. Since I don’t sell a lot of books these days, I really don’t use them so much for pricing... but I still enjoy the articles and general information inside.

    Saga is amazing. Try Paper girls also. It's awesome. For a current mini series It Eats What Feeds It is fantastic.

    Another great show Bueller (as always).Just to let you know I've started buying Comic Pro Line bags.Found a great eBay store up here in Canada that sells them for only 7$ per 100. They were just too expensive to order directly from the Comic Pro Line website(shipping to Canada is so stupid).Thanks for letting me know about this great product.
