How to Cockle Gather and Cook in Garlic Butter NZ

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

On a recent outing I came across an abundance of cockles. Haven't had a feed of these in years so we gathered some to cook at home. No white wine in the house, just garlic, butter and parsley were added to give a wee bit of flavour.

We used to swim over to the other side at Port Ohope to get them.. and mussels. But that was a few years back now lol. It looks lovely there. Man we have had some damn hot days lately. Being in the water would be perfect.

Where's the fried bread to dip in the juice. That's it, I'm off to the beach to try and find some kai moana. Probably have to make do with karahus because Auckland doesn't have any kai moana left. Our pipi beds have been stripped. Too many people here and no matter what country they come from, they all love kai moana.

From the age of 9 to 10 or so, I thought I was a Gay; and it was all to do with cockles. I was told, while at a camp for fat kids, that eating cockles in our dormitories made me of the Gay. You see, camp ppl never gave as much food so at play-time I didn't play I'd go on a mission in search of more food; and the ocean I knew to be the second refrigerator under the sea. So cockles kept the hunger pains away but not the Gay, that I thought I caught by eating cockles. It was just my luck that an old kuia (with mokopuna) told me two things that changed my life. First thing was, to not be so stupid and the second was that if I wanted to kiss a boy forever amen over kissing a girl on the cheek forever then I was for sure of the Gay. I was so glad I wasn't Gay cos talking with a Gay accent all those long, long months was reallyreally hard to do! Another awesome upload, bro!!
