I was raised in the evangelical baptist church and over the years have deconstructed and disengaged from faith altogether. I enjoy religious studies for sociological and anthropological reasons but I also enjoy it for the myriad ways that humans have tried to make sense of the visible and invisible universe and the unexplainable. We’re creative creatures. I find that there is truth to be found in so many faith paths, and you’re one of those sources for me Rabbi Jacobson. I appreciate you and your work on this platform immensely. Thank you for your ministry.

Interesting what you mentioned. Several so-called true friends dropped me like a hot potato when I got married. Some of them are already married themselves. I guess getting married means that these women will not take first place in my life and their narcissism doesn't permit that. It's really unbelievable.

I wish his perspective and understanding was part of early childhood education. He is also extra handsome and his low voice is comforting. I love him, he understands modern life and interprets it for old people like me. Every day he helps so many people!

I'm retired and have lots of time on my hands. Sometimes when I'm sitting around and maybe watching a video like yours on KZread, something I've done in the past that never bothered me before comes to mind. If it's something I wouldn't be proud of, I asked Father God to forgive me. Then I sit quietly and let go. As I let go, I may say to myself that must have caused others pain when they noticed something missing or destroyed and not knowing how or who did it. These memories were of things that happened in my life many years ago and I realized I can't go back to make it right for the ones I hurt. But I must accept God's forgiveness and thank him for helping me to become a better person, like the man I am today.

Good teacher keep the good work up, the truth stands tall, sunday's school here are closed, still great people with no leaders, fear the time for emperors are near, thin margins win the long days, a lot of fifth wheels here could be turned to a good purpose, so many poorest teachers with no skills will empty the ranks of endeavors

Shalom Shalom The day has arrived, a child is born, the umbilical cord was never severed. Now feet begin swimming around mother's womb, not lost with translation, but still caught between the cord of time and space perplexions. A season to cry, a season to laugh, a season to live and a season to pass, all sit down and lift their cups in celebration. An Omer voice counts out loud, dressed in sackcloth, water wells never dry, an eternal resolve driven by unchanging conditions. A sunset cloud brings about a sunset ash, traveling across the sandy winds of time, a mourning dust blows about, a morning dust blows past; once a valley of bones, now scattered across the great continental divide. Faith is the ability to believe in that which the eyes have such a hard time with. Life is full of uncertainties and we are connected, with our actions that have a ripple effect, creating sounds waves traveling across the geographic temperatures of the plains and boundaries that we exist upon. As our faith grows stronger, we can find peace knowing, no matter what happens, we will be able to find our way through it and overcome it. As faith grows, so too shall the day grow in strength, to a variety of hues, populated by saturated brightness, making it easier to find our way through the dark patches of the day.

Can you expand on the part about focusing on a relationship with building a career please? The bit at the end..how would one know how to identify the right person if they don't have their 'ducks in order'? I always thought it would come after because of my own inability to trust myself enough with a choice. That as I developed with career/education..I'd somehow master that.

I loved this talk, you said all the right things and used all the right words, but one thing that gets in the way and contradicts the not relying on others being free from external factors is that relationships are a boulder, and relationships depend on external factors and on other people. Not just nurturing a relationship and the very nature of a relationship but also even just finding someone that fits to be a soulmate, is something that mostly doesnt depend on oneself, especially in a world where people prioritize the materialistic instead of truth and love.

Just with few or with a lot? A big endless story my friend... 🙂 This is the other way around of standards. I think it call it bohemian, or just artistic. When a lot people feel comfortable alone and with others. Maybe this is their mission? Who knows? Me? You? Them? I wrote a lot because you talk a lot today. Don't misunderstand me. 🙂 As I can see, the weather is getting crazy allover the place...

Thank you Rabbi Jacobson. And in addition to the appreciated counsel on decluttering and defining our personal mission and priorities. The one piece of advice that was most impactful was said at 56:03, "...try to be objective and not prejudiced by your previous choices!" ...as this one statement seemingly wiped a 17 year mindset of fearing life for being overwhelmed by past choices! So thank you very much for this overall perspective! Strength to you, and all the best.
