How To Clean Your Weber Q 1200 To Prevent Grease Fires
Warmer weather is here, and there's no better time to break out your trusty Weber Q grill and cook up some delicious meals. But before you do, it's important to make sure your grill is clean and free of any built-up grease or debris. A dirty grill can not only affect the taste of your food but can also be a potential fire hazard. In this video, I demonstrate how to clean your Weber Q grill to prevent grease fires.
Before you start cleaning your grill, make sure the gas is turned off. And that's it's cooled down if you've recently used it before cleaning.
Remove the grates.
The grates are the metal bars that your food sits on when you're grilling. They can easily be removed from the grill by lifting them up and out. Place them in hot soapy water and let them soak for 15 minutes. Once you've removed the grates, you'll be able to access the burner tube to remove it.
Clean the burner tube.
Remove the burner tube an place it in hot soapy water for 15 mins. After 15 minutes, take a brush or a sponge and scrub the burner tube to remove any built-up grease or debris. This will ensure that your burner tube is working properly and will prevent any flare-ups. Use a safety pin, or similar, to clear each hole in the burner tube. This step is necessary to ensure even cooking temperature.
Clean the grates.
While the grates are removed, take some time to clean them thoroughly. You can use a brush or a sponge to scrub them and remove any built-up grease or food particles. Focus on removing as much build up as possible.
Clean the cook box.
The cook box is refers to top and bottom sections of your Weber Q. It's important to clean this regularly to prevent any potential fire hazards. Simply spray with a generous coating of degreaser. Allow the degreaser to sit for 30 minutes or whatever's suggested on the instructions. You can then wash it with soap and water and dry it off.
Reassemble the grill.
Once you've cleaned all the individual components, it's time to put your grill back together. Simply reattach the grates and the burner tube and you're ready to start grilling again!
By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your Weber Q grill is clean and free of any potential fire hazards. So the next time you're ready to cook up a storm on your grill, make sure to take the time to clean it properly beforehand. Happy grilling!

Suggestion for your grill grates. Make a strong pot of coffee and use the coffee to clean grates immediately after cooking, while hot. The acid in the coffee will really eat through the heavy grease build up.

cover moldy area with foil and turn the flames up. Let the grill run for 10-15 mins. Let it cool. Then clean.

Lol clean it after every use like how? You probably just scrape the grates with a brush. You’ll need to do all this eventually

Exactly what I was think. Hitting it with a grill brush would avoid all of this

Right. I've since discovered that you can use a drill with a wire brush bit to really get everything off. Try and let me know how it works out for you. Thanks!
