Along the same lines but simpler try this fail safe put dishwasher tablet in the pot, cover with water bring to the boil, simmer for 30mins and leave till it cools or overnight It will remove everything, if there are tiny hard pieces they will easily wipe off with a scourer, although I generally put mine through the dishwasher

You totally saved my life ... bought a dutch oven, made a goulash today and there was burned macaronis stuck on the bottom ... I've made twice the boiling water with baking soda and my dutch oven is almost like new. I knew that I couldn't used stainless steel sponge so I was stocked with that issue. Glad that I've found that video before throwing away 85$
I want one of those cool caps with the bill in the back like Steve's! :-)
My poor Dutch oven has seen a lot of love. This is exactly what I'm looking for, thank you !

Enjoyed your video from S.E.Tx.
I cooked a steak an enameled skillet. Left a stain and i tried soap and water forever. Never thought about Baking soda and vinegar! Thanks bro
I'll have to try baking soda. I put my dutch oven in the sink, pour in a couple cups of oxyclean, and then pour in a pot of boiling hot water before lidding it for 30 minutes. It usually lifts anything on the bottom right off. No scrubbing.
Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I didn't think I'd ever get mine clean ❤

Thank you! So realistic and helpful about burned on stains Admitting tgey dont come up right away.. Also you described the amount of baking soda which is extra helpful. Now I am going to attack this burnt on enameled Dutch oven! IT Its actually a Martha Stewart but same enameled pot as a Creuset.
@IamHomelander

Martha Stewart = Le Creuset ? I need what your smoking lol Le Creuset is dishwasher safe, and made in France since 1553 (Cousances). M.S. Everyday is made in China and probably won’t last a decade 😂
Soap and water genius.
Steve says, "repack it, regift it - so you cant get you another one!" Comedic gold right there baby!
I was just gifted my very first dutch oven so I'm glad this exists. I wasn't sure how to care for it. 😂
you are amazing
I'm a dutch oven lover!
I love steve videos! But i'd like to clear that every time you mix vinegar and baking soda you make an acid base reaction that gives you a salt. So you basically give away any advantage of using an acid and obtain the result only by mechanic action
@ConcealedWeapon
Жыл бұрын
Exactly. In fact the acid is not necessary. Water and baking soda is enough, but as you say, it probably works just by the mechanical action of the baking soda, and not for its alkalinity.
@kathiyu7007

I've laid down a layer of baking soda, then sprinkled with vinegar. The fizz lifted all of the crap off my dutch oven without heavy scrubbing. It is the acid reaction that works.

Yes and no, because they’re also a release of gas that can break the bonding between the stain and the pot. Trick is to let one of the agents sit and work into the stain before adding the reactant.
Man this guy sounds pretty chill lol
Bar Keeper's Friend is the actual answer.
here for steve
Can you teach us how to clean cast iron like get the rust off ? No oven as well
I was listening while driving and not looking. I started to realize especially around 3:40 that he sounded just like the star of that old show Everybody Loves Raymond. 😅
What is that RED and when can I have it. Would look amaze in my kitchen!!
Hi! The enamel at the bottom is no longer smooth and shiny. The brown stains are getting darker and darker. Any ideas?
I've seen that on a few videos over the years. Mixing baking soda and vinegar. Ive never really understood it as baking soda is basic and vinegar is acidic. So aren't you just making something thats almost neutral?
I just use Barkeepers friend. The end. 😃
My dutch oven has little spots on the rim of the bowl and the lid where i guess the enamel chipped and exposed the iron. To prevent it from getting worse is it enough to rub some oil on those spots before cooking and after cleaning?
@xanafein8453
Жыл бұрын
Thats what I've been doing for years with my pan
Which side of the sponge did you use - the soft or rough side? Is it okay to use a non-scratch scrubbing pad on this?
@pjaccountname
Жыл бұрын
yes it is.
In the early 70s we got a gift of a great pan with a stupid "feature : a cast iron "anything" pan by Waterford, with an enameled outside and (I kid you not) a black teflon or similar "nonstick" interior! Just leaving the cast iron would have been fine, or enameling it. we used it quite a bit tilI noticed little black flakes of nonstick coating in the food.I planned to either wire brush or sandblast the remaining teflon stuff off, and season or use it like cast iron, but I left it behind when we moved.
Years ago in Hints by Eloise she recommeded using a paste of Dawn and baking soda! That stuff does work miracles. Get baked on grime off for sure.
That must be a new Dutch oven I’ve just seen the limited edition on the website

🧐🧐🧐
The exposed cast iron on the edges of mine rust. Do you put crisco on the rims?
@MadeInCookware
9 ай бұрын
Hi! The rims of ours are not raw cast iron, or else they would rust. It is covered with the very first underlayer of the inside of the Dutch Oven, that we call: "The Mass." If it was enameled, stacking of the lid would damage enamel. That said, make sure to dry the product after cleaning.
A sponge and Dawn. Baking soda for any stains.
Brilliant!! is not scratched ? which is important for enamelware
@MadeInCookware

Nope, it is not scratched.
Glad to see no paper towels were used in the making of this video!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I like how he cut the vid and swapped in a brand new pot. Lmao
Where do you find the elbow grease? 😜
Why demonstrate on a version you haven’t released yet? Is the whiter enamel the same as the black in the limited edition? The white looks smoother.
@BlendingWithHenry
2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The cream enameled one isn't on their website. Furthermore I'm confused why do they have 2 of the same Dutch Ovens with different enameled interiors?
Looks like a job for a brillo pad to me!
@MadeInCookware

Brillo can be damaging.
I have been using mine for sourdough and the exterior of the pan looks awful! Same method?
@MadeInCookware

Yes, you can use the same method.
I run my enameled cast iron through the dishwasher after every use. Generally comes out clean as a whistle inside and out. If any residue or discoloration remains, a very light spot clean with a bit of barkeepers friend brings it back to like new.
@MadeInCookware

We do not recommend putting enameled cast iron in the dishwasher. Hand Wash Only.

@MadeInCookware that's absurd. I've been doing it regularly for the past 22 years, and my pots look brand new. Enamel is essentially glass. Maybe you could provide a reason since it works for me.

that works to deglaze...it doesn't work on patina..
All that good flavor you washed down the drain. ☹️
Mixing vinegar and baking soda together is one of the most useless things you can do in cleaning. Elementary school science, folks. It results in water, salt, and carbon dioxide.
Thanks Steve, it worked for my Le creuset also...🤣
