    This is actually not the best way to clean it if you are having noise/ thermal shutdown. You want to focus on the two intake vents on the back of the console. This is where the dust builds up and could block airflow. Of course, blowing in the top is a major step to keep it clean, but if you hate having noise and or random shutdowns it is most likely the back of the heatsink that is clogged

    This is great man, thanks for the is. I just got my series x 2 weeks ago, and I’m already noticing some dust buildup in a few places. I have a nice air purifier coming in tomorrow, and I’m hoping that will help. We get a lot of dust with 3 cats and a golden retriever. Just wanting to help my series X last as long as possible, since it’s my favorite console of all time

    I didn't use plastic I just used a pencil lol. It fit perfectly and the fan didn't move at all. Good vid these electronic dusters are the best.

    My advice is to just use a device like yours on all vents once a week. Nothing will build up that way.

    purchased the datavac, used it, cleared most the dust, but there’s still a bit around the top edges. Plus they didn’t state on amazon that the product can produce carbon black and other chemicals (which are cancer causing), even though the product says “live green” I’d just recommend caned air at this point.

    Canned air can get do actual water damage to some electronics depending on the brand canned air is not really a good option.

    I hate dust on / in my consoles , i have s special dust cover for my series X too but after a few weeks of having my console , i noticed dust on the black fan blades already , ive heard that dust weighs down your fan blades thus causing your console to overheat eventually or long game sessions etc .

    Hello. Yes, you could try that. The pressure from the data vac will push the dust out regardless in my experience.

    I would be careful of static electricity. It’s possible, just be careful.

    You can do this. Static electricity is not much to worry about with air flow. The air would have to be flowing extremely fast to cause adverse static buildup. The real issue comes it you use a dry rag or a non static safe brush.

    If you already have the Data Vac then this method is all you need. I don’t think there would be that much of a benefit with opening the back of the console.

    What would you suggest to get rid of finger smudges on the Xbox? Mine has a couple finger marks which I can’t seem to get rid off

    The dust ends up exiting the system and going into the room. I’d suggest doing this outside if your console is very dusty.

    You could go that route, but to vacuum an electronic device safely you need a special 'static free' vacuum. They are quite costly and may not do a great job given the design of the Series X. The compressed air or data vac does a surprisingly good job!

    I have heard the static thing before, I unplug the Xbox and use a vacuum... I have done this for years on all of my consoles and have not had an issue

    @@renandstimpy1642 Yeah, I admittedly used to do this with my One X and it worked pretty well. It's one of those things where there is a chance of doing damage to the console, but it's unlikely.

    Will doing this clear the heatsink on top and bottom of dust so the console can breathe like it's brand new? The heatsink on the bottom is a little ways up above the vents.

    As long as you take your time it should remove most, if not all dust. If you do a cleaning regularly it shouldn’t have the chance to get too built up on the heat sink fins. Thank you for your question. Best of luck

    I would suggest cleaning it both standing and on its side, just be gentle. I would also probably put a cloth down to protect it while it’s on its side.

    It will take a little bit of time getting all the holes blown out, but it will remove most of not all dust.

    Any household plastic straw from the supermarket will work. I would tape two together length wise, just so you have the length should it drop into the console.

    Why not air out the bottom of the console? There's holes there and seems to inhale more dust and debris than other parts of the console.

    I have a dust cover the I bought on Amazon specifically made for the series x and it does a fantastic job. I just take it off when I want to play and put it back on when I’m done but the top holes still attract some dust during a long gaming session. Will this just blow the dust deeper into the console? I’m genuinely curious????

    If you cover it when the power is off just keep in mind it will run periodically for a short period of time. That includes using the low power option

One night i was sleeping and i heard it make that sound that it makes when it checks to see if anything is in the disk drive and the fan started spinning for a few minutes then it stopped. After that i figured it was just safe to cut the power to the surge protected all together

    You’re a little limited with air openings on the One X. I would try to spray the air in the side grates in as many angles as you can.

    Good question. Spinning the fan at super high RPM can potentially damage the internals of the fan. You'd be surprised by just how fast the fan can spin if you hold compressed air or the data vac on it!

    You could, but I can’t recommend it. Typically air compressors will have a very high PSI output and the potential for static. It’s safer to get an approved duster like the Data Vac.

    You could, but you have to be careful with static electricity, so I would advise against it. Canned air or a Data Vac type device are your safest bet.

    Yes, just be cautious with a normal vacuum as they can introduce static electricity.

    You could but then you risk damaging the Xbox from static electricity. Be careful!

    It’s way too easy for dust to get inside any PC/console. I’ve read that you can cover the air intakes on PC’s with filters, but I’d hate to do that on my series X. I’m receiving an air purifier tomorrow that I’ll set right next to the box..hopefully that’ll help a bit

    People listen this video is bad he’s not cleaning the Xbox he’s just blowing the dust around in it, there’s thick dust that doesn’t come out he’s just blowing dust around, I brought a micro vacuum cleaner it sucks the dust out from the back bottom instead

    @@nicholasharris5480 it’s a tiny vacuum it’s a micro vacuum so I use it on the top to clean the fan & I use it on the bottom, it’s designed to clean pc’s and game consoles it just sucks dust out & yea I’ll type a link KZread usually removes these links but lemme try I got mine of Amazon I’m in the uk
