Hi there! Sorry to hear this happened. The probable reason why your gold jewelry turned rose gold is most likely due to a chemical reaction from the oxidization. There is a chance that your gold jewelry may not be pure gold, and therefore can affect the color of the metals (i.e., copper)!

Yes! You can use this method for pure 24k gold, or even 18k, 14k, or 10k gold, and other metals including silver, sterling silver, etc. All metals will not tarnish equally as the more pure the metal, the more resistant it will be to tarnish. However, we advice to use this cleaning method with caution as it can be too abrasive and we do recommend getting a professional clean & polish whenever possible :)

@jenny9658
19 күн бұрын
Uhh 🙄. Yes, 10k gold can tarnish over time due to the other metals in its composition Yes, 14-karat gold can tarnish, but very little, if any, is expected 18k gold is not pure gold and is susceptible to tarnishing, but it doesn't tarnish easily Pure gold, like 24 karat gold, cannot tarnish Pure (100%) gold, titanium and silver do not tarnish. Metals that can tarnish include copper, brass, bronze, and alloys - that includes any fine jewellery that are less than 24k or 100% pure silver like 9k, 14k, 18k gold or sterling silver. There is common misconception that just because a piece of jewelry is solid gold, that it will not tarnish. Solid gold less than 24k can certainly tarnish, due to the alloy metal that is compounded with the gold component being one that is not corrosion resistant. However, on the other hand 24k gold and pure silver is too soft to wear on a daily basis. 14k gold is the most commonly used gold for jewelry settings. It's composed of 58.3% gold and 41.7% alloy.

Hi there! Sorry to hear this happened. The probable reason why your gold jewelry turned rose gold is most likely due to a chemical reaction from the oxidization. There is a chance that your gold jewelry may not be pure gold, and therefore can affect the color of the metals (i.e., copper)!

Is this for real or fake gold?
I don’t have baking soda but do we need it or can we do it without it?

If you don't have baking soda, you may use this alternative method: Fill a bowl with 3 cups of warm water and some dish soap. Let it soak for a few minutes and then scrub with a toothbrush. We made another video called "3 Different Ways To Clean Your Jewelry." We recommend checking it out 👍

Will it work on tungsten carbide

You can use warm water and detergent-free soap for tungsten carbide jewelry!
Does it have to be real gold or does it also work with jewelry from example: claires?
@myjewelryrepair
Жыл бұрын

Tap water should work just fine!
But that doesn't look gold again, it looks reddish, kinda like copper. I have a gold filled chain that looks slightly darker after a month of heavy use, still looks sparkly and nice, but I can see it darkening already and I want to get it back before it gets even darker. I'm still going to try this method and I hope I can get the original color back and not have it look reddish.
Is that rose gold ?
Why does it seem like the jewellery you placed in the bowl was already shiny and not the tarnished one? You were very careful at hiding it too.

Hi there! We're not sure what your gold monopoly pieces are actually made of. It really depends on the type of metal, for example, if they're made of real gold, then this should work! It's just like the concept of people polishing their silver 😄

The aluminum foil aids in the electrolytic reaction to transfer the oxidized tarnish to the aluminum foil, to be short!

@jenny9658
