How to clean Chucks
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I show you how to clean and give new life to your favourite shoes -- your Chucks!
You will need:
A washing machine & dryer.
Bleach-free laundry detergent.
An iron & ironing board.
An old towel.
Old clothes.
A bleach pen (found at Shopper's Drug Mart, or many grocery stores)
Paper towel.
Optional: New shoelaces.
My shoes weren't too dirty to begin with, but take a look at the end of the video where I show you the before and after photo I took a few months ago (last time I cleaned them.)
Have any other ideas for How To videos? Comment, make a video response, or just message me and maybe I'll make a video of it! ^_^

10 years on and this washing machine still looks way ahead of it's time.

i love this, that washer is nicer than mine 12 years later🤣
People that are Converse fans don't just simply throw away their old shoe and buy a new pair

Damn that's a hella nice washing machine, I think that the washing machine really made this vid
11 years after and this video found me well lol
As much care as you put into this, it wouldn't surprise me if you still have those Chucks. 😂
A really great video and I have only a single criticism/tip. The bleach works well but it's messy and there is always the risk of tiny spots landing on the material. A safer way is to use an old electric toothbrush head (or a manual toothbrush and elbow grease) and a thick paste of either washing powder or dish soap before you put it in the machine. No danger of causing damage and it actually removes more dirt than the bleach method due to the agitation of the toothbrush. If there are stains on the white part than a rubber (pencil eraser for the Americans) works wonders. Hopefully this is a useful tip for someone :)
I would not recommend putting your converse in the dryer, the rubber can melt and get warped and they will not be the original size

I used 409 Cleaner on the white rubber. It works great and it might not be so harsh as bleach. I think 409 might be more forgiving if you accidentally get it on the canvas. Good job! Thank you for this video.
Whoa, that washer and dryer look insane!!
She has that nice washer/dryer because she wasn't dumb and ran out and bought new shoes as soon as they got one little stain on them like most kids these days. You see kids, learn to save your money for more important things, priorities, priorities, priorities. By the way, you're such a cutie, great video.
I have two pairs of white converse because i couldn't be bothered washing them I just thought it would be better to buy another pair but half a size bigger and that new pair has just come out the wash so I now have a converse collection. 2 white 1 pink and 1 burgendy..i like converse :)
Weird enough I actually wanted to no if her earphones worked so thank you for not letting me stress ahah :)
Thank you for your great advices !

Thanks I am a converse freak so I have over 100 chucks so it took me a long time to clean them all dis really helped
Your videos are very detailed! I like that
@ShadedAsylum I'm glad to hear it! No one should ever have to throw out a pair of beloved shoes before their time.
nice video!! I will watch this again when my new chucks get dirty. Thank you!
I wash mine in the washer. Leave them outside to dry in the sun, then use a magic eraser on the white parts. Leaves them brand new
This is amazing! :D I have to remember this video if I ever need to clean my chucks... I have only two pairs of them, and the other pair is still brand new (I bought them a few days ago).

@PanicAtTheDisco0247 The washing machine is my parents', not mine. Plus, I like my Chucks. I'll wear them until I can't wear them anymore. :P Glad the video helped you :D
Thank you so much! This was really helpful!
For the rubber i've found using toothpaste and an electric toothbrush works great. plus you don't have to be so careful about bleaching the material bits
OMG you have so many cool appliances..
SO futuristic with your equiptment
Those type of front loading dryers come with a shelf that can be placed inside just for drying shoes or for air drying sweaters that need laying out. 😁🤓🤓🤓
Thx great video can't wait to see how mine turn out
I always wondered if I can machine wash my chucks...now I know I can lol :-)
I'm so glad you found it useful! :D Cheers!
so lucky 4 your headphones!!!! and i like converse dirty!!!! hell yeaa! but your chucks is awesome! good job
ok... update... i have the ones with the little jewels on the toe... and I was worried about washing them... but... hey.... it worked!!! Thank you. You're awesome!!!
Haha she do got some high tech equipment Nice vid its like new shoes! Thanks
@Gymiks I'm not sure, actually. You may be able to apply it with a cotton swab very carefully. You might also want to dilute the bleach with a bit of water, as well. I think with liquid bleach it'd be EVER MORE important not to get any on the fabric. It'll be tougher to deal with than the gel kind, but good luck to you if you try it! :)
love it lol frist time i clean my converse i got some bleach on them. and well i went with and bleached the rest! there pretty awesome now thatnks for you help!!!!!
Oh my god :D this saved me from almost throwing out a pair of my chucks c: thank you!
Thanks, nice washing machine!
hey! thank you it was really useful :) though i have a question, is it ok if i use bleach for white converse? i mean in the fabric part?
wow. thanks a lot! this looks great, but takes a lot of time!
I hope this helps you clean them! I'm sure they'll get plenty dirty when that snow starts melting. My Papa (grandfather) bought me the ring, and I wear it on my right hand. Woo! Thanks, Papa!
I like your choice of music for the video :)
that was the most useful video no joke!!! 8) thanks!
Hey thanks for the help 😎
you can also use mr clean magic eraser for cleaning the rubber on your chucks. its a little bit more efficient, i think
Ever try cleaning the white rubber parts with Goo-Gone, or similar citrus-based cleaner? It won't bleach the fabric. Also, for spot cleaning on the fabric, have you tried Blue Magic? It's a carpet cleaner, you spray on, wait for 30 sec and then scrub the spot out with a clean rag or sponge. I use these on my Nikes and Vans.
Dang you have nice appliances!
@Singing1Dancing2Girl I wish I could help, but I'm not sure. The only double-tongued pair I have are white and brown (I like brown ones...) and I haven't washed them yet. I'll let you know when I do/if I get a more colourful pair and wash them.
Hey how's it going? Just watched the vid from 11 yesterday ago. Hope you're still alive and wearing Chucks
about your ear buds. you can dip them in rice. like get a big bowl & pour it all the way to the top with rice. it doesn't matter what brand of rice. & like just put your ear buds in. like halfway & leave them there for like a whole day.
@captin0mega It should work with white chucks, yeah. I haven't tried, but I have a pair I've yet to wash. I'll let you know once I do.
SONY!!!! WE LOVE SONY!!!
You're very welcome! I hope it works well for you :D
hi have knee high converse (well actually im about to get it in the mail tomorow) and im wondering if washing them in the washing machine would hurt them in any way...(or shrink or whatnot =P)
Chucks are awsome
@Lotrioni Not usually.
thanks a lot this really helped
Is it okay to wash the innersole? Mine are connected to the shoe and don't think it's a good idea to rip them off.
ive drawn stuff on my black chucks with tipex nd paint, its on the fabric part how do i get it off?
how would you clean all black' converse plz reply
Such a high tech ass washing machine!!! lol Niceeeeee
Lindorvlog can it say oxygen base bleach or will it ruin my black and white chucks?
@jordanasi808 If your soles are black with a white line I would consider trying to scrub it with an old toothbrush and maybe some dishwashing fluid before using bleach. You may use bleach on the white stripe, since it shouldn't really affect the black, but for the black part use dishsoap and see if that helps. Cheers!
Mannnn That is one hella nice washing machine. The iron isn't so bad either :p
This was great
@captin0mega with white chucks just put bleach in the laundry as well it works really swell mine were really white and shiny so i was super happy !! hahah and also just a tooth brush and tooth paste to clean the white soles of ur chucks and i hope this can answer ur question :D
@ShammyRox21 I'm glad it helped you! Sorry to hear about your earphones, though :( I think I just got lucky.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEO!!! =)
IT HELPED MEE!!! =D lol n my coby headphones did that too
@maroonSG Well, they are brown shoes -- and they still have rips in them... the washing machine couldn't turn them back into brand new shoes, unfortunately.
Ur cute! :) And great video, thanks to you now my chucks r gonna be squeaky clean xD
ok ok, i really need to know how many degrees i can put the washing machine on? 30? 40?
Does anyone know a good place to buy shoe laces? Whenever I try to buy them there always too big and they look strange so is there a place that has laces that are exactley like the ones your chucks have when you buy them?
Amazing
Isuggest everyone try this method! I have done it as well and it works great.
@GreenSky1231 I've never tried using bleach in my laces (as I usually have a pair laying about) but I'd imagine that the bleach pen would do the trick. Just make sure you rinse them well afterwards in a basin or a sink that the bleach won't affect (metal or porcelain will do well). Good luck :) Let me know how it works! I'd like to try it next time.
I just replaced my very first pair of converse and didn't have the heart to throw away my old ones. Giving them a overnight oxiclean soak and then throwing them in the washing machine tomorrow. If they come out whiter I will be using them as my rave / outdoor festival shoes since I won't mind getting them dirty

@@jacie. they came out amazing !!!!!! I soaked them over night laces and all then put them in the washing machine for a final clean. It was like night and day almost good as new. And they were stained as hell before, so bad I was going to throw away because I thought they weren't even good enough to donate. They were also white !!!
OMG!!! So going to try this!! I puked on my shoes a few weeks ago. lol
Yes there is a way there's kiwi shoe polish at your local Walmart or a pharmacy
heres a tip when you do the bleach you could put tape on your cloth part of the cloth and it might help with the bleach not geting on
I love chucks
The fabric on my black chucks turned green :( anyway to clean that or is that a permanent thing?
14 years ago shoes were tough enough to run through the Normal cycle and ironed? - lol. Now they have to be on delicate, cold wash, stuffed in a pillowcase surrounded by towels, and hung dry.
@101lmnop Chucks where I live are about $60 - $70, so buying new ones is not a good solution for me. Plus, the soles are fine, and these ones were worn in just the way I liked them :)
This would work on Vans too , right??
extremely impressive! 9:44-9:46 was that the Talking Heads u (LindorVlog) were jus listening too in ur headphones?
@StoryNClark Thanks so much for the kind comments! :D I'm glad you found it useful. The shoes I used for this video are now super beat-up and have several holes in them, but I will wear them until the soles fall off while I'm walking. I love them.
@mommyeyes Thanks for the update! Hopefully other people with those types will see your comment and learn that they can wash them without fear. :D
I was wondering the same exact thing.
@IllusioneArts I know, eh? The views on this video astound me! I guess it was always something people were looking for :P At any rate, I'm very happy they found it and hopefully they find it useful :)
@CullenGirl1997Xo Unfortunately, I'm not sure. I hope someone has done it and can let you know!
U got some hi-tech equipment girl lol but great video p.s. u lost me with the washer dryer n iron lol
The chucks are next to new! And they seemed perfect I don't know why people are that crazy cleaning them
I didn’t even know they made brown converse this was very helpful tho
hey i have a important ?! ..can you use any kind of washer mechien? like does it hafe to be a high tech one like yours? lol (sorry for my gramer)
Do you think the bleach would work on grass stains on the soles ? :(
@LindorVlog it's 15 years old and the leg dident want to stand any more i guess. so it bent in half
