Another old one I've found and didn't you look young 9 years ago haha. Our van is a 2005 model with under seat water tank but we dont drink from the taps and take water bags for drinking water. I have used Milton once a year since owning the van but only let a little of the solution go into the water heater so hopefully it wont have done any harm. Great update Adz, I normally say looking forward to the next one but I reckon there's already been a few in the last 9 years 🙂

Haha, just a few videos in the last 9 years, @stevepjackson 🤣🤣. I do look young (and tubby), don't I. We've stopped drinking the water from the tank as well. We can't seem to get rid of the mold taste, it makes tea taste awful. Question; what are water bags???

Thanks very clear to understand. Just bought a 2002 Hymer B544 so I guess it’s pretty similar. Great video. Jo in France 🇫🇷

However, a few people have suggested that bleach such as Milton contains chemicals that could corrode the metals in your boiler.

Have a motorhome for 12 years now that I use for work and leisure and never "cleaned" my fresh water tank (just run it dry now and then and fill her up again), and just use a bit of soda (natrium bicarbonate) for the gray watertank 1 or 2 times per year. I'm not fond of using all these chemicals when it's not necessary at all.

But doesn't the water taste funny, Jarl? Ours does. I can't seem to get rid of it. But I guess because you are using your water all the time it doesn't go funny 🤔

@@HermanHitstheRoad Yes obviously when you don't use water for an extended period of time you empty the tank - otherwise it gets all kinds of flavours of which I suspect plastic is the most important one. But I have on no occasion found algea. Oh - and I suppose that the source of the water may be important too! If the water is contaminated to begin with you may run into troubles not known to me.

Somewhere I read that Milton can react with the metal parts of the water heater and it is therefore better to use white vinegar.

Not a good idea to use milton as it attacks the metal in your boiler
