Steve that's were you are wrong. Freightliner cleans these parts all the time & the dd13/dd15 works perfectly. Don't tell the man he should get out of trucking bc he's just taken precaution which most o/o goes out of business not doing premaintenance on there trucks. He didn't say he had any codes that come on. I've been trucking & mechanic for over 30 years affiliated with just about all old and new engines and he can clean these ports the same way you clean the delta pressure sensor ports.

100% agree! I clean over replace whenever I can, extend the life of the parts, extend the life of the engine, reduce the cost over the life.

Per oem, do not clean the valve. Replace it. Bottom line. Fix the truck like the manufacturer says. It's for a reason. You may not agree with it but the engineers already measured and weighed cleaning or replacing. So replace it, do not clean it. If you cannot afford to replace it maybe think of getting out of trucking.

Hey Steve the reason they want you to change it instead of cleaning for a fast fix and a fast profit for a manufacture if people clean it instead of buying they don't make money on use truck.

@@f.fernandez6960 incorrect. Once you have to clean it, that means the nonstick coating they out in it is gone. Also your cleaning procedure will never meet the mapping air flow it was designed for. I follow oem steps. Not step i fabricate. If you cannot maintain the truck the way it was designed then don't own it. A cleaning " fix " only delayed the issue. Fix it properly and don't worry about it again. Most likely if you're replacing it you have a upstream problem that needs addressed.

Steve do you work at a dealership?,I’ve been driving these newer trucks for over ten years now and yes I agree at some point you will need to replace things because none of the parts last forever, however there is nothing wrong with cleaning that doser injector in my opinion, I cleaned mine at least twice a year on my current truck which is a 2013 cascadia and only recently replaced it after 5 years, I can’t count the times I’ve gone into these dealerships and been told I need a new 1box because a sensor has failed and some after treatment code on the dash, I’m just saying learn what you can and do preventive maintenance.

@@kelvinjohnson5704 no I do not work at a dealership but am certified in all manufacture to perform all campaigns and repairs for those companies. Hino, Detroit, Peterbuilt, International, Cummins, Eaton and the list goes on. Just because you can do something and it works you think as good as new 9 /10 it really doesn't. Put that specific part through its tests and I'll bet it failes to meet those guidelines put in place by the engineers. Yes dealship mechanics I cannot say are good. And you may have needed a one box. Freightliner had a campaign where if a one box had this specific crack to replace the hole one box. And that was free to the customer. Did you miss out on that? Maybe because you didn't want that one box. Upstream and downstream management of the after treatment system is very complex and many mechanics just throw a part at it without troubleshooting the true upstream problem. Is it pto time? Do I need to make an idle shut off time sooner. Ect. I am a technician, not a mechanic. Anyone can turn a wrench. Knowing why that wrench has to me used is another.

Yes, if a part requires unusually frequent service, it usually means it is toast and should be replaced. On the other hand, anyone who thinks that Freightliner and Detroit do not have a mandate which promotes sales of over-priced parts is - mentally - living in Disneyland.
