Absolutely fantastic, after years of caked on corrosion from countless spear fishing trips here in Hawaii, the port of my lowrance sonar on the actual unit itself was in terrible condition, I used this recipe and along with a load of brushing and using small screwdriver bits for glasses I got all the corrosion off. I just tested it all along with the sonar and all I can say is….. ITS ALIVE

I used to have trouble with both the sonar cable AND the power connector. But, after cleaning them Both from corrosion, I found out I don't have to worry about that much anymore! How, you ask...? I use a Dielectric Grease on ALL connections, now. I tried LocTite brand, and found it worked. Also, for the rudder steering shaft bushing/seals, you can use Dow Corning 111 grease (also a Silicone-Based Lubricant excellent for all electrical connections) that will NOT "wash-out" from water/weather conditions! (A little warning about that stuff, though! A little goes a LONG Way, and it's hard to get off your fingers!). Lol

Thanks bro! I have my Garmin striker 4, ff/gps/with the sonar, and only bass fish on my kayak. I always wash and dry my boat after every trip. Then, in the garage. I'll alway's wipe down all my gear. That's a great tip, and appreciate the info! 😎 🎣 👍

@@wendellfishing Yeah, i'm a fanatic, with all my gear, especially the kayak. When you sit there and add it all up. All the toy's and diy's we do. And tgen add the amount you've paid for the kayak. Wow, you wouldn't think it's that much $$ but it is. But, we gotta have that hobbie and self therapy lol..

Thank you! I used fluid film an anti-corrosion spray and a tooth brush to get my Lowrance autopilot back online.

Might add a little Dielectric Grease to the male and female contacts to stop corrosion in the future Yes, YOLOtek makes dielectric grease and we are US Veteran owned, but any dielectric grease will do. :)

Nice video, I appreciate all of your nice videos for kayak fishing. Why would you use salt in the first solution? Isn't salt corrosive?

The acidic properties of the vinegar will react with the salt to create an abrasive mixture that will break down the rust particles on contact.

This is great thanks, dumb Q coming up. Can this be used in the XCT connector to the sender or just on the power connection?

I would venture to say that if you have a connector that is metal, then this should work. But I am not entirely sure what you are referring to when it comes to the XCT.

Mint video mate. Love how you dont talk about nothing for 10 minutes like ever orher video these days. Have ypu noticed the corrosion and rust return quicker then usual. I have read that the acidic nature of bicarb and vinegar will cause the rust to return quicker. Just curious legend
