What works for me is taking a hat into the shower (being careful to avoid soaking the brim where possible). Let the steam relax the fibers first, briefly rinse the hat with warm water and use a soft/medium bristle brush to loosen up dirt, apply a bit of shampoo on the brush or directly onto stained areas and scrub, let it sit for a few minutes before washing it off and letting the hat dry

I'm a farmer and have been wearing ball caps for years . Always just thrown them in the washer . After a couple times of that and they pretty much lose their shape . I even tried the delicate cycle . Gonna try this on my favorite Twins cap that has never been cleaned the old way as l didn't want it to lose it's shape . Glad Utube algorithms sent me your channel. Thanks .

used to clean a designer baseball cap, worked flawlessly luckily I had the crep kit laying around I used the included shoe detergent because Ive had success with cleaning delicate sneakers and it worked great.

That is awesome! The first I've seen that addresses the rigidity and structure integrity! Had someone claim that with submerging in a sink full of water, but then used an old worn out hat! I need that bill and front logo section to be solid afterwards, or I may as well scrap the hat!

im just searching the best way to clean my cap because mine have yellow stain and this is the best way i can do to wash it. thanks for this tutorial video man

I marinate my ball caps in laundry detergent overnight in a plastic tub. Use a sponge and hand wash gently. Then hang in the shower to dry for a few hours. A fan works really well to expedite the drying process! With the laundry detergent, the hat smells great!

I am going to get going on trying this soon! A method that is cheap and doesn't use too much water like this is awesome! Lots of people seem to forget that some hats will have their bills ruined if fully submerged in water for too long. I have a 9Fifty Snap that I wore to death that I ruined trying to clean because I submerged it in water for too long while cleaning it, which made the bill extremely soft.

I can second that specific oxyclean spray. That is the best stuff I’ve found that is universal for most stains. If it doesn’t come out in the first was it always does in the second.

This will probably work fine, but top rack in the dishwasher is really effective. I put a ten year old white golf cap in and it came out like new...frankly was startled how well it worked. Try it on an old cap if you are worried about the bill...it works!

Yeah, I’ve heard this from many people, but how does it work on keeping the structure of the crown intact?… I think it’s a great idea for caps that don’t have a structured crown.

NIce! This video is very helpful. I would just like to ask on how you deal with caps that have red and white? Because for me red bleeds a lot and some other colors can easily stain the white portion of the cap.

Good question . I’ve never owned a dual colored white cap but I think this method is gentle enough as to avoid that happening… but I would still proceed with caution.

That is the way I clean mine too. But then l stretch the cap over a #10 can and spread sta-flo starch over the cap with a paint brush.

I accidentally soaked my cap (got it badly stained on a week-long trip, only had access to the tap in the bathroom to wash it), and now the whole thing has “bubbles” and looks awful… can I save the cap or have I ruined it completely??😢 From now on I’ll wash my caps only using your method ❤️

Does detergent build up become a problem since you are not rinsing the hat off? Or when sweating, does detergent ever drip down with your sweat potentially getting in your eyes?

I’ve never had a problem… as long as you don’t use too much detergent, you’ll be fine

All white hats are a tough one depending on what type of material the cap is made of… but it’s worth a try..

Used this method on my two new era brand Reds hat and the red dye bled to the white logo.... what can I do to fix this??

Wash it again paying particular attention to the White logo… I have New Era caps of all colors, and I’ve never experienced this.. hope this helps!
