    Did it. Cleaned it. Fixed it. Thank you. Perfect. I've paid 4x for the dealer to pick up my bike and fix it. I did it in 30 minutes myself this time. Thanks again!

    this is way better than the last "how to clean scooter carburetor" video I watched. he just sprayed some carb cleaner in the bowl, and said if the jets are clogged, buy a new carburetor 😐

    Just recently acquired a Lifan 50cc that has been sitting for some time. I have good spark and compression. It also runs with a little starter fluid. This video was just what I was looking for on cleaning out the carb. Thanks a ton!

    My favorite videos are the ones where they say “we already did this step”, also when the people making the video assume you know how to remove a carburetor (in this case)- do I clamp the hoses that I disconnect from the carb? Do the hoses have a certain order? Do the carburetor jets have to screw back in to the exact location? Do I clean the whole carb with brake cleaner? This video will never be played in a garage near trained mechanics- know your audience people!!

    I believe my problem is the carb float bowl...? When I give it throttle, I get pulses of power and lagging. But as cruising speeds and smoother throttle it's fine. But also, when I'm driving along if I go full throttle and pull it all the way back... I start slowing down and lose power. I have no idea why, but it acts as though I just let off the throttle completely. Maybe it has to do with my very long throttle, or the same dirty carb issue. The guy before me drive it with a broken air cleaner housing, but I got the replacement, so my carb should stay clean now. Other than those two odd things, my 2002 Honda Metropolitan is amazing. I love it and I'm currently customizing it.

    I have the same problem. How to fix?

  • @DanteYewToob

    @DanteYewToob

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@calebprod I just guessed it was a dirty float bowl, and i guess I was right because it runs great now. I used B-12 carb cleaner fuel additive, it's pretty cheap and available at Walmart or anywhere. I followed the instructions and added a tiny bit extra to a full tank and just rode hard and fast for about an hour and it worked great. On my next fill up I used seafoam to keep it clean and improve performance and it has run like new since. All the throttle issues are gone. I plan to run seafoam or another stabilizer and cleaner every other tank or so to keep it nice and clean, and I'll do a small amount of B-12 once a year or so for maintenance. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

    Hi there, great tutorial..... can you tell me more about the componants on the float bowl, I think it's called a 'valve check ' or something similar. I removed the 2 screws from the plate and exposed a rubber flange & spring etc etc, off to one side was a tiny brass screw that I removed along with a tiny spring underneath it.... is there meant to be a tiny ball bearing under that spring located in the housing as I found one on my work cloth after stripping this area ???? So on reassembly it would be ball bearing - tiny spring - brass screw ???? Any advice from anyone on this ball bearing and it's correct location would great... thanks bud

    I have a taotao 50, it was left sitting for about two years, recently decided to start it. Well realized I had to clean out the carburetor, the toughest part was cleaning out the jets. I saw another video, some guy used the thin metal wire inside a twist tie. So, I rummaged through my miscellaneous drawer with many twist ties, found a couple, (here's a helpful trick, use a lighter to burn off the plastic or metal surrounding the wire in the twist tie makes it super easy) Ok, I was able to remove the Big jet and stick the thin metal through, cleaning it out. The problem was with the small jet, the thin metal wouldn't fit, I looked and looked for a metal thin enough, eventually I found a thin enough piece of metal to fit. The scooter runs, oh.....make sure to drain the old gas, it will cause the scooter not to run well.

  • @johng.3740

    There is one more thing, after cleaning the carburetor the scooter wouldn't start unless I gave it much gas, I finally figured out that the vacuum fuel regulator (fuel petcock) was the problem. At first I thought it was the valve lash adjustment, but it wasn't, I ended up putting in a big bore kit, still same problem...the scooter was left sitting for about 2 years, the old gasoline degraded and possibly hardened the vacuum regulator mechanism. I replaced it and it starts and runs great.

It starts but will just die down and i end up putting it on slight rev for about 5 mins before it can maintain its idle. It's a 2017 scooter with only 1400km on it. Appreciate any help. Cheers

However, I have another issue, I had a guy to come down and change out my plug - he added more gas, and somehow he got the cap on cock-eyed, now I cant' get it open to put gas in. What should I do?
