Yes it is! Definitely gives a better chrome than the water based top coat does.

@@MelissasManis I'm going to have to try the tack it .. I heard the Sally Hansen miracle gel top coat was a good no gel method and now I'm having second thoughts

Thank you! Yes I actually have considered it! I have done voice overs before. Just have to find a good place to start 😅 when I have the time!
Melissa do you use a dip top coat after chrome on the tack-it method?

You can but depending on the type of chrome it can mess up the smooth "mirror" look that chrome gets. Mermaid chrome can be topped with dip liquids without messing up the look. You'd want to do a layer of base, then activate, and top. For other kinds of chromes, to keep the look, you'll have to use either a gel top coat or a regular polish top coat.
I knew the concept behind chroming but thanks for the reminder! I have tons of ideas now for the DD chromable fellas I own.

No. Dip liquids won't work for chroming.
I am so happy that I watched this video I bought this beautiful like holo chrome powder and I wasn't sure how I would be able to apply it. Now I just need to figure out witch of my top coats are water based, btw how do you know? I guess I could google it?

Yeah googling water based top coats told me a few! This is the one I usually go to and its easy to find

Yes it can! The same half and half mixture. Ive tested it and it works great. Also as a peel base!

How long does chrome last on your nails? I usually do my nails every 2-3 weeks (dip powder).

As long as they're topped properly they'll last as long as your mani does!
Hi! 👋🏻 so I'll be trying the tack it method w the Mermaid powders and dip liquids. After the nail is chromed, how do you finish the mani? Do I just top with dip top coat? 🤔

You can use gel or a water based top if the goal is to avoid gel

@Jen Pierce it worked well for me with mermaid powders and chrome powders! I topped with a water based top coat that I got on Amazon.
Can any mermaid glitter be chromed?

Yeah should be able to. If it's moxed into a clear base to be used as a dip it will be more difficult.
Using your finger is not the way to rub in chrome powder. Your finger has oil on it, which causes a barrier between the product. Which could cause the chrome to peel.
