These rods are awesome !!, my wife and I love to chase them slabs and have used a certain brand of rod for years. We have switched over to crappie sticks and my wife’s catch to miss ratio has gone up because of the sensitivity. When she goes with me we usually fish shallow or put a cork on her line to know when she gets hit. Now she fishes the deep brush piles with me and loves it. Love that thump !!!!

Great info. I have same problem as DaveD (not from fishing but years of mechanic work) Spot on about the short light rods. Helps tremendously with bad joints and arthritis. I hate even picking a long rod up now. Since forward imaging I have found that I can change jig weight cast it where it needs to be to just hang in there face if need be.Crazy how water tension on the line can make a bait/jig suspend. Your assessment about clear water applies here.( Clear rock bottom lake). Fish will not let you get to close. I'm learning and your teaching! Thanks!

I have a couple ACC crappie rods - recently switched to St Croix Panfish…the St Croix in my opinion is way more sensitive for detecting those light/negative bites.

I'm looking at a 6.5 and 7' crappie rod. I fish from the bank and a kayak. I use bait, jigs (casting), and bobber. Which one would you suggest for me.

I've developed a bit of a tennis elbow issue and I think it is from using the 12' rod for hours of vertical jigging. I think one issue is I've been holding close to the end of the rod to get more reach. I might be better off sacrificing some reach and holding at the balance point. It's pretty painful so definitely want to avoid.

I use a couple 5.6 rods (short slow) Maybe I should name them 45 asp because short and fat and slow will do the job I have a old seven footer that I use for float fishing and I'm a Shimano Fan but love my Trion's along with my Johnny Morris reels

On the 6’ and 6’6” is the tip end eyelet large enough opening for the rubber bobber stops? I have a problem casting with the bobber stop catching on the eyelet and stopping the cast on my current (not ACC) 6’6”.

As far as I know, 6 and 6.5 were two-piece only. They just introduced one-piece ones lately but significantly pricier than 2-piece ones like $100-105 vs $70.
