I have a DV1 digital clear with the c1 cap. I agree with Brian, it doesnt sling Clear like my Sata 4000B, or 5000, but, where temps are barely borderline to paint, the slower DV-1 sure helps prevent runs. Love the pattern. I use a GTI Pro-lite for base and love it.

Love how humble you are 👍 keep up the amazing work. I use dv1 for basecoat don't think you can beat it, I just wouldn't listen to people when they say you have to go one size down on the fluid tip. Iwata ws400 seems to be my go to clear coat gun, it would take a lot to get me to come away from that gun 😎😎

It looks awesome and you're right it's a little bit of both, I've been using a $250 gun for many years and it works just fine. With bright colors especially any red or maroon, on a partial car paint job, I always recommend to the client that I paint the whole car especially insurance jobs because of the weathering of the unpainted panels you will see a difference. I noticed as you were first driving it out (13:20), the rear doors looked faded compared to what you had painted

Thank you for all the video’s you’ve made and for actually replying to comments man. I swear I’ve watched 50+ within the last month while I’m getting ready to paint my bike and use something other than a rattle can for the first time. I’ve finally got all of my products and I actually went with the $90 Astro EuroPro gun you made a video on since I don’t have any future plans on painting after this but wanted something I could use again if I ever decided too. I just have one request/question. I haven’t been able to find from your channel and that’s pretty much everything about air filters. From the air compressor to the gun and how they work with different gun setups, paints, pearls/flakes & etc. Any help is greatly appreciated!

If I'm gong to get a cheap set up (cheapest I can get away with that will lay paint down on the car properly anyway) what's the minimum size compressor your recommend for size of tank and airflow rate litre per minute, HP/power of the motor etc etc? And cheapest Gun I could get away with that can spray the Titan Silver metallic base and Clear aswell please mate? Cheers from London England 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

So if I got this correct you were around 8-9 inches away on that first coat of clear. Then lowered the psi and increased fan to move in to being 4-5 inches away to lay the clear on a little thicker/wetter for the final coat. Love the videos and tips/tricks I pick up in them. Just so you know the link in the description for the Kiwami is for a 2.0 tip unless that's what your are suggesting for that gun. 👊🍻

Great videos, having trouble finding information on fittings for the gun and the compressor hoses. I bought a 30 gallon compressor, two 50ft 3/8 lines, and all the fittings on the lines are 1/4inch npt. Why is this standard, doesn’t make sense to me. Shouldn’t I get 3/8 line with 3/8 fittings? The Flexzilla hose has high-grade aluminum 1/4 fittings on each end, compressor is 3/8, and most fittings on guns and tools are 1/4….. so just swap these fittings out for high flow? Or change the hoses to have 3/8 fittings? What do you use and what do I need and does it really make a difference for hvlp. It seems counterproductive to have 3/8 hose and 1/4 fittings… Thank you sir

Nice job! Couple of questions for you. I. Otcued in this video you uses a criss hatch or "X" patter to help blend the paint. Now, in on word your other videos were you were blending in that video a Silver metallic paint you mentioned using a "K" pattern" So my question is is one used for non metallic paint and the "K" for metallic? Or, it doesn't matter which pattern you use ? I have never painted a panel and trying to get as much info before I start fising some of the panels" it hood, quarter panels on my 2015 Ford Escape in a Tuxedo Black Metallic paint which, has many differnt colors of flakes. On that note is there away I can send you some pictures of the damages areas and get help as to what steps I need to take from" begging to end" I really need as much as as possible from you guys. Thank you!

And yes I’ve grown using HFT guns . I’m a hobbyist and paint a panel of car or whole car every couple years or so. I have the same identical CRV, year and color. It needs a complete respray because of the clear coat peeling and wear and tear throughout the years. I Live in SW Florida and this car is a driver and sits out in the sun when not in use, Would u recommend single stage or basecoat/clearcoat? Could I use a cheap $15 harbor freight gun or one step up for for $30 (or so) one ? I’d test spray on a scrap hood panel I have but would like your input if possible. BTW, this is one of 3 cars of mine I plan to completely paint. The 3rd one being my baby, a ‘94 c1500 that I stupidly Plasti dipped 6 years ago 😬😬

Single stages usually only come in solid colors and if im not mistaken, that red has some metallic in it, i could be totaly wrong cause its hard to tell from the video. Also single stages dont have UV protection in them so itll fade alot faster especially in the sun. easiest way is to basecoat clear coat. U can also single stage and clear over that single stage paint for the UV protection. That harbour freight gun is more of a primer gun cause the tip size is soo huge. I would recommend something in the 1.2-1.3 tip range

@@JimmyJiveJones Single stage does come in metallics too. I"ve sprayed it on my own cars. I personally think that single stage holds up just as good as clear, and is actually easier to use, since you're only spraying about 3 coats of single stage, while with base/clear you'll have to apply 5 or 6 coats.

Hey Brian great video… been using the WS 400 for years. Been interested in the Walcom HTE clear coat gun do you prefer it over the WS and DV1. Haven’t ventured from Iwata in years but I’m market for another clear gun. Thanks.

I have the dv1 clear with the c1 and c2 caps, the iwata ws 400, the walcom hte with the hte clear and the mp clear caps. If you are a close and fast painter the walcom with mp is great, if you like a little slower and controlled application you will like the dv1. Both amazing finishes

@@jeremyoetken2094 Is there much difference in finish on DV1 vs Walcom. Looking for flattest finish possible to reduce cut and buff times. Is the Walcom as fast or faster paint application as the WS 400? I’m not in production shop anymore so application speed can be slower as long as finish is flat as possible. As we cut and buff everything we do. Thanks for your response.

The Walcom and DV1 are such different guns. The Walcom is very fast comparable to the ws400. It is light weight which is a little different to get use to. It has a flat finish with the mp air cap if sprayed close and fast. Like 4 inches. I am not a super fan of the normal hte clear aircap. It is a little orange peely. The dv1 is a little heavier but pretty well balanced. It is a hard gun to get runs with. It atomizes the paint very well. The dv1 also needs to be close with a lot of overlap. If sprayed properly both guns can lay super nice finishes. If I didn't spray multiple cars a day I would definitely spray with the dv1 clear if I wanted the flattest finishes. You have to be patient when using it because it is slower and needs more overlap or it can look dry if you try to spray too fast with it. Coming from the ws400 you would have to slow down with the dv1

@@jeremyoetken2094 Thanks Jeremy, I am a slower painter a lot of times I will run my fluid in a few turns on the WS400 so I can slow down some. So it seems that the DV1 may suit my painting style really well. I completely understand about speed at production shops. I ran my WS 1.4 wide open to get to the next job asap. Shop I’m at know is more about quality than quantity so I can slow up. Never own a Walcom so was just interested in what it was all about without having to waste money and find out it didn’t like it. Thanks for all you help.

I have been thinking about a new base gun. Can you put the B plus base air cap on the clear gun and turn it into the base coat gun? I spray low voc solvent at the moment, Sata 1500 rp for base and ws400 evo for clear. Other painter has ls 400 and walcom combo. I have not tried the walcom yet, soon. The 1500 beats the ls400 in my hands on metallic. I do find the gun helps alot as well as material. Cheap paint can be hard to deal with, especially low voc. I like to go in the booth and not struggle. Looking for a base/single stage gun. Can get the DV1 with c1/c2 caps. Great video's you have!

@@jeremyoetken2094 I got a killer deal on the DV1 with the c1/c2 caps so I will try it next week. I tried the walcom and will take a while to match the ws400. I sprayed 2 bumpers, hood and trunk and tried different settings on each. It is very light, It had a 1.4 tip, will try his 1.2 next time. It had a weird way of the clear laying down, instead of holes when not enough for a closed coat, it looked like fish eyes, even in 2nd coat which I have never seen before. Maybe it was not atomizing enough, tried 30-32 psi and cut down on fluid.
