What's REALLY important is that you wear a full-face helmet. The added weight is ridiculously low, and in exchange you get so much more safety. The chin guard is fundamental! I wouldn't have teeth and probably a face, without it. In the best of hypotesis. Going downwards at a regular speed, a Y-shaped branch hidden under the leaves was raised by the front wheel, getting stuck between the wheel and the fork. Totally unpredictable. The wheel locked at once, projecting me forward. I was doing an old rock staircase in the woods. I landed face down on the rocks. Absolutely no time to put my hands forward and dampen the crash. Hadn't it been for the chest protector I surely would have broken some ribs. And hadn't it been for the chin guard I surely would have crashed my nose, and destroyed my teeth. Admitting that the concussion wouldn't have killed me. Not exaggerating. It took me a good 15 minutes to put my breath and head together. It wasn't a downhill helmet; just a cross country with a chin guard. Never, NEVER without chin guard, guys. Never. The extra grams are nothing compared to the pain they might spare you. Open face helmets should be banned. Fullstop. Make them stop production: don't buy them. Please, do it for your own safety.

@@Kni0002 Always wear full face. If anybody laughs at you, you'll be laughing at them at their face/dental reconstruction clinic.

Thanks for posting
100% aircraft 2 is the way to go
2:11 this isn't really true, while all helmets meet the minimum CE standards, more expensive helmets can get you dual density foam, and, as you said, things like MIPS. At the top end then carbon shells for full faces make a massive difference over polycarb or ABS shells.

I was about to post this as well. There are many differences in the range of helmets and picking the best one that you can afford is always the top advice from me. Now if you're riding rail trails which can be gravel, paved, to natural dirt that are pretty much all smooth you do not need the super expensive downhill helmet. Go to a credible bicycle shop and discuss the options and choices with them then get one that's really comfortable and within your budget.
Beard 5/10. A little scruffy, some patches of gray.

We'll be sure to take this up with our make-up department!
Your bike looks really poppy! What do you have your fork and rear shock set to? I’m 105 kg, trying to get back to race weight of 80kg and have trance x with fox’s 32 front float fork and same on the rear? Any advice would be amazing!
i'm looking for a helmet with removable chinbar.

Off topic but what jacket is that ?
The bike is solid and my Ebike conversion went great. kzread.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Very smooth ride at 30mph with no problems (135 miles ridden so far). The picture is a bit deceiving - there is WAY less space in the center of the frame than it shows. The suspension connection takes up the entire thing. So I needed to attach my battery on the bottom of the frame and my controller on the top. Instructions for assembly were lacking but honestly it wasn't too hard to figure out even though I have very little bike knowledge. Watched some youtube videos on adjusting the disk brakes but that was it. Still, I am loving it and very happy with the purchase.
I'm looking for a good quality, good cooling and comfortable helmet with a retractable visor. Any recommendations?
