Ойын-сауық

Learn how to choose the best nature journaling bag for you. After reviewing many bags I share the criteria that you should consider when choosing the best bag for nature journaling, urban sketching, and watercolor painting in the field.

Great point! I did not have his bag at the time to test. But I have seen it and used it briefly.

You're very welcome! I'm passionate about this subject because I think that choosing the right bag can have such an impact on people's nature journaling. Getting a bag that worked for me was a huge unlock and I want to make sure that other people can reach their potential (one piece of equipment should not be what holds us back!)

@@MarleyPeifer I wholeheartedly agree! Finding the right bag to hold sketching supplies, whether it’s for nature journaling or urban sketching or everyday/anything sketching is essential. It has been a 15 year experiment for me! There’s a lot of great bags out there, but not all are great for the needs of a sketcher. You’ve brought up some important points to think about when choosing a bag. I think my main issues is that I like to switch up the type of media I use every now and then… sometimes I’m on an ink and watercolor stint, but right now I’m on a marker and colored pencil stint which requires different organization. I wish there was one (or even two) bags that could just handle it all. I was considering the Makers bag, but I’m glad I watched this video first. I’ve never liked bags that only open top with a flap/lid closure because I loose stuff. Too bad they don’t make it with both a zip closure and a flap so you have options. For women who like a more feminine looking bag that still has great functionality, Lug (brand) and Baggallini (brand) have some great bags. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet found my one, mostly perfect bag. It’s nice to see you’ve pretty much found yours, but frustrating they have discontinued it. I think this is a subject that can be revisited many times. 👍 Awesome job on the video!

I'm looking forward to your review of JML's bag! I was looking at it online. I struggle because I like to mix backpacking and hiking in with my journaling so I carry more stuff in case of emergency since Im father out. Haven't found the right set up yet.

Hi Nerissa, I totally understand the compromise that you are talking about. What size sketchbook do you usually use? I wonder if there is a way to keep a smaller nature journaling kit in an easily accessible pouch of your backpack that can be accessed without taking the whole backpack off every time?
