In regards to mini split heat pump units, if you are meant to use the sub cooling method as a way to check refrigerant charge because of EEV in outdoor unit, how are you able to do it if there is only 1 service port on the Suction line and nothing on the liquid line? a lot of mini split systems seem to have this set up. thanks!

What about checking the condenser for the right freon pressures and checking the sight glass first. So the Condensers are running correctly, then check each evp.

You typically want your evap SH to be low, so you can ensure you are using more of the coil to boil off the refrigerant. High evap SH means you're loosing evap efficiency. You also have to be worried about too much system SH as to not overheat refrigerant cooled compressors, it's bad for the oil.

I don't understand why we always adjust the stem on TXVs if they are MODULATING valves to begin with i.e. the TXV is going to adjust the needle pin for refrigerant flow to wherever the sending bulb tells it to. Adjusting the spring tension via the external stem is almost like playing with yourself, it feels good but doesn't make anything. That sending bulb and E.L. are going to tell that needle pin how much to open or close after everything is said and done anyways, do why bother. ???
