    That sounds like an issue with the power steering system. Best to have it checked by a mechanic. Could be something small like a steering angle sensor or something major like the power steering motor malfunctioning. Can't really tell without looking at it.

    I have a Hyundai accent 2017. I would like to ask for your help with 2 questions: 1) For the AC buttons, I thought I could turn off the AC and mantain the fan working just by clicking the button. But it can only get turned off if I put heating on. Is this normal? 2) The temperature indicates 84 degrees Fahrenheit average and the bar with the stripes its generally below half or exactly half. Is this normal? Cause I was parked today with the AC on and the it increased one stripe above half, after I speed it decreased to below half once again. Thank you once again

  • @VirarAutomotive

    @VirarAutomotive

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Rodrigo, 1) Yes. You should be able to just operate the fan. You don't have to have AC on all the time. You can turn the AC off by pressing on/off the 'AC' Button. If you the AC doesn't switch off that maybe an issue. I can't say more about it without actually looking at the car. 2) I understand you are referring to the coolant temperature. Yes its possible that when you are just idling the car when its hot outside the coolant temperature gauge may increase above half. Once you start driving the coolant gets pumped faster and the air starts blowing and that cools the coolant quickly and thus the coolant temperature gauge drops below half again.

    Yeah unfortunately you have to. The reservoir and the electric radiator fan are sold as 1 piece. It's a stupid design. I dealt with this issue myself a few months ago. :( A temporary solution is to put a high temperature underwater tape (if you can't find that even good old duct tape could do the trick) to slow down the leak for the moment while you figure how to get the replacement reservoir/fan unit

  • @VirarAutomotive

    @VirarAutomotive

    Жыл бұрын

    I would suggest with 5w-30 or 10w-40 as that is what the manufacturer recommends and has designed the engine for. The PCV Valve gets clogged over time and it either has to be cleaned out or replaced with a new one. The replacement is easy and the part is relatively inexpensive. When the PCV valve is blocked, it causes pressure to build up in the oil crankcase and that leads to oil leaks. So I would suggest you get your PCV valve cleaned every 1-2 years.

    If the power steering system fails then its likely cause of the electric power steering motor or the module. Unfortunately yes the way to fix is usually to just replace the part. I just bought a 2016 or well I’m buying it for 13k I noticed the fan running a lot so I checked and sure enough the coolant was low. So I topped it off it seams better but the oil dip stick has a dark brown color at the end of it. I’m just afraid about the head gasket cause my last vehicle had that problem and I’d freak out if this does. Is that a common issue?

  • @Feedbacker1

    @Feedbacker1

    I haven’t had a chance to let it cool and see if it gets low again when I drive it yet but I know there’s no leaks cause I was underneath it l for an hour today fixing the bumper

  • @VirarAutomotive

    @VirarAutomotive

    Жыл бұрын

    1) Yes definitely wait for the car to cool down and see where the coolant level stands. Overtime (like over a period of a year), the coolant level going down is not uncommon. Coolant fluid itself is not 100% liquid, there is gas trapped inside the liquid that boils up and evaporates over time, micro leaks in the cooling system, etc. 2) If there is a head gasket leak, then yes the coolant level should be going down and when coolant and oil mixes, the mixture looks more like a milkshake. Yellow-brown milkshake. 3) The engine oil color can also be affected cause of moisture condensation. If the car is only driven for short distance regularly, the oil develops a yellowy color due to oxidation. (most visible under the engine oil fill cap). The easiest way to fix this is to take the car for a nice 30 min-1 drive on the highway. That heats up the oil and burns up any moisture in it. Doing so will also give the chance for the cooling system to get nice and hot and circulating and then when the car cools down you can check everything and have a better idea. Hope this helps.

    @@VirarAutomotive so the coolant seems to be steady so far but I did the oil change all seemed normal till I went to fill the oil and noticed there was black grunge on the oil cap and inside the port you fill the oil. I got it out with my finger it was all black not milk shake. The oil that came out didn’t have any sign of grunge. I’m hoping just from condensation living with huge temperature swings on the front range.

  • @VirarAutomotive

    @VirarAutomotive

    @@Feedbacker1 That black grunge is very likely just oil sludge buildup over time. Be sure to do your oil changes on time and use good gas and that should help with it gradually. Good luck!
