Hey Party People! I get this question fairly often from my wonderful newbie twisters so thought it was finally time for a advice video on the topic!
How should you charge for your balloon twisting services? Should you charge per balloon? Per hour? Per kid?
My personal recommendation is to always charge for your time. We are selling an experience, an entertaining service, and that should always be billed in terms of hours, not by how many people enjoy the service.
I do have a couple of exceptions to this rule which I explain in the video and also give you another tip on a technique you can use to turn requests for free work into more paying gigs.
I hope you guys enjoy this one! Let me know what you want to see next!

    For “pay for balloon” gigs or “please work for exposure” gigs, I simply offer a severely reduced rate (booking fee only) and then just charge per balloon.

    I've seen a few twisters that just go to restaurants or makers markets or street performance places and "work for tips." When it comes to not being booked and just doing balloons at a fair or streets on your own (with proper permits and permissions of course) would you think it would be easier/make more working for tips and being more mobile or having a menu board and staying in one spot?

    Hi - great video. When listing your prices, do you also give a rough idea of how many balloons you can tie per hour? How do you prevent people from trying to hire you for an hour to tie balloons for 150 kids? And - how many balloons can you tie per hour (if you don't mind me asking)? Also - if you know there will be a ton of kids, to you limit your offer to the simpler balloons to cut down on wait times for the kids standing in line? I apologize if this is covered in other videos. Thank you.

    I am sure it depends on what balloons some take more balloons and time than others ...if there is a theme to a party some can be prepared in advance

    Hey Holly, I've got a quick question. I started twisting last year and believe I have achieved a decent amount of success in under two years, I've had plently of busy weekends, but not as much as I would like! The more experienced twisters in my area charge 125-175 an hour. However, for gig lead applications such as thumbtack, gigsalad, gigmasters, etc. there are twisters that charge half of that an hour. How would you price your services in an instance there is a wide range of people who are charging more and undercutting what the experienced people think the market is? Currently I am at $100 but feel I'm getting squashed by those who are charge $25 less an hour, but I'm shocked that those charging $125+ are getting tons of bookings. Thanks!

    Try raising your price to $125 or more, and see if it gets you more bookings. Or it may result in less bookings, and still end up with more money.

    They would buy the tickets from a ticket booth at the fair somewhere, you don't hand them out you just collect them like money

    ? for the 7 minute mark, you have the client pay you your full rate, plus you charge the customer per balloon? I assume you give the client all that money, is that correct? Do you keep the extra, if made? What if you don't sell enough, what then? @@HollyTheTwisterSister

  • @HollyTheTwisterSister

    @HollyTheTwisterSister

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@mariaponce3969 Yes that's correct. If you are charging your full rate and collecting from the attendees, you give what you collect to the event coordinator. It may cover your costs, it may be more, may be less. I wouldn't even count it (who has time for that!?) Just hand it over. All that matters to you is you got your full rate, and the event coordinator got your services wholly or partially paid for by the attendees.

    @@HollyTheTwisterSister I was also confused on that... so the guests give you tickets and money? Or just tickets? If just tickets, I don't understand how that pays the client back.
