@HowtoAutomotive this looks like a very easy process to change out the switch I watched your video a few times because I too am experiencing a problem with mine recently. If I push the lever forward to activate my bright lights sometimes it will work sometimes not a few times I had to push the lever inwards and at the same time forward too to activate the brights and also same way to get them to shut off so I’m assuming my switch is bad this is the only problem as of now is with the brights the wipers and turn signals are fine I’m glad you posted this video ! Is the switch still working good ? Im kind of a DIY guy and think I can handle this. Where did you get the new switch ? any other things I need to know or expect? Thanks for helping all of us!!

@HowtoAutomotive Thanks for such an awesome video this was actually an easy job the only panel that was a pain in the arse was the bottom one under the steering wheel a little cussing and pushing with a plastic radio removal tool got that piece out new switch went in like butter and just more cussing to get that under wheel piece back in lol I did disconnect negative battery cable before starting NOTE: before disconnecting battery move your drivers seat back as far as you can if your a bigger guy like me 230lbs lol. The extra room helps. Tools I used were 7/32 socket ( I had no 5.5 metric) 7 mm for two screws holding big bottom plastic panel 5/16 socket for battery cable removal plastic fork type stereo removal pry bar and a cup of coffee. Once switch was mounted I made sure all features worked and they did. I like how the new one is stiffer when activating the directionals in either direction. But then again my old one was oem since 2007. Thanks for your detailed video!!

I checked 3 or 4 different socket sets and none had a 5.5mm socket, a little math showed that 7/32 is almost the same. Worked great for me. Thanks for the short and to the point video.

FYI if you don't get the covers seated correctly around the ignition switch it might not engage. I needed a new battery anyway, but that could have been an avoided expense had I realized that the switch was not engaging enough to allow the truck to crank. Thank you so much for this video.... I, uh, (kick the dirt) won't say how long it took me, but it is done! :D

Hi Brian, Thanks for taking the time to do this, it's an excellent how-to video and better than most I've seen. I just replaced the TS combination switch on my 2005 F-150 and everything went well EXCEPT when it came to getting the lower half of the plastic cover back onto the column.(I noticed this issue has been mentioned in several comments here.) After trying every possible angle and fighting with it for 15 minutes I started thinking it would have been faster and easier to just pull the steering wheel. I finally got it on somehow but I still have no idea how I finally got it into place. After the bottom cover was finally over the column I noticed the bottom and top halves were tweaked just enough that it was now impossible to get them to line up and snap together even though I worked on aligning them for about 15 minutes. It seems like the bottom plastic cover got stretched out of shape just enough that the two halves would no longer align properly leaving a small gap that would really bother me if this had been a newer vehicle. I noticed another video where the guy removed the mounting screw from the bottom half cover but didn't pull the cover completely off--he just let it dangle under the column, held in place by the cover's two plastic flanges which were still in place under the steering wheel. That might be something to consider. Anyway, just my experience and a heads-up to anyone thinking of doing this. Thanks again!

Bottom plastic panel!!! 2 things. 1. I have no 5.5mm socket but 7/32 worked fine. 2. Most my time was spent on reinstalling that bottom trim panel. On a hunch, I started the truck and turned the steering wheel 1/4 left. Turn off and remove key.. Was able to get the panel in (dare I say "easily"?) by starting on the right side. Wasn't really easy but I was going nowhere otherwise. Great video. Even fighting that bottom panel it's still gotta be easier than steering wheel. removal.

Thanks for the video Brian. I was driving my dad's F150 & @ first I thought the high beam dash light was inoperable.... Then, head first toward a wall I clicked for high beams - nothing. Jiggled switch & it worked.... but wouldn't go back to low beam.. another jiggle & lever came out. Yes, broken I found your video & I'll change the lever in the morning. i appreciate it. Thank you

Thanks for the great video. Other than the housing under the steering column (that was all me), I had very little problems changing out the switch.
