love the improved steps like the vacuum bag inclusion and doing the layers much faster i would also recommend use of either a heat gun, blow torch, or a spray bottle of acetone to help prevent as many bubbles on the surface in the future :)

One tip for the vacuum bag: get it to around 70% of the air out and start to use a squeegee to remove any air pockets above the carbon to get a mirror smooth finish. Than suck more air out -> squeegee air pockets -> and repeat till there are no more air pockets on the carbon surface. Also Mylar sheets over the last layer of carbon can give you a really glossy molding finish. After the vacuum, just peel the Mylar away.

Excellent instructional video! I've been putting off a carbon fiber wrapping project for a long time, because it will be my first one and I've a bit of uncertainty how it may turn out. But your video just gave me the 'push' I needed to finally give it a shot! Mine will be the inside area of a headlight housing. It definitely has some curves that I'll need to workout but I have a spare/damaged one to practice on. There are a lot of bad things about the internet, this is one of the great things about the internet! Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge with us. #subscribed

I enjoy watching the manufacturing and conversion of parts to carbon fiber e.g. for weight reduction but what’s the point of wrapping beyond the visual effect? (Not to mention that it also adds weight) You could just buy carbon fiber wrap and get the same look with less effort

Hello friend The most important tip when skinning carbon fiber is not to apply a lot of epoxy resin at once, but to apply thinly several times. You don't have to worry about air bubbles when you apply epoxy resin thinly and sparingly. Also, it is easy to level for smooth surfaces.

  • @ECOLAPStudio

Hello friend Gelcoat has a higher viscosity than resin, so it does not flow. Due to its high viscosity, the carbon fiber adheres well if an appropriate amount of gel coat is used. Also, if the base parts are not black, the original color can be covered with gel coat.
