This method is a stroke of genius! Works 100%. I was initially struggling a lot and was afraid the tire levers will damage my carbon wheels. With this method I did not even have to use the tire levers or struggle with the tire at all. Thanks a lot for this video @Durianrider

Hahaha. I’ve been there with the sore fingers then I learned this technique. Still takes some effort with my armadillo elite tyres but generally taking your time and easing it, the road tyres seem to pop on when they’re massaged around. Always a great feeling when it’s on a seated. Thanks Harley. Not sure anyone else makes a tyre change quite so entertaining!!

The internet told me once that you should finish the tyre removal or install process at the valve. The theory is that the valve is the point where the tyre will tend to sit higher in the channel and so will give the least slack and hence you want to finish there. Seems to work.

I think it also heavily depends on the wheel itself. The bead on the GP5000TL is so wide one side alone almost takes all the space in the center channel of the wheel. Been using this method as well as of course, it gets way easier when the tire is properly in the channel but... on my Syntace W21i rims they were almost perfectly sealed without even putting the fluid in. Was a massive struggle to get them on.

Notice as well if you do run tubeless you should only run the tyres approved by giant which is quite a small number of manufacturers at the moment.

Good video as always. I recently got into a problem. I have ICAN aero40 with Conti GP5000 25mm. I find it really hard to make the bead to seat evenly throughout the rim circumference. Had to mount and dismount the tyre to the rim 6 times in order to make it seat evenly. Do you have any tips regarding that? My old no tubeless ready aluminium rims didn't have such problem. It's quite shyte cause if I get a puncture and repair the tyre is going to be a bumpy and unsafe ride. Do you have any tips on how to prevent this? Only tip out there is to use liquid hand soap but this isn't something you can do when you get a puncture at the side of the road.

Cars have never had hooks but car tyre construction is way tougher. Carbon rims on the other hand are hard to construct with hooks and too large a percentage are rejected due to the complexities. It is much easier to manufacture a carbon hookless rim and be somewhat stronger. The problem really lies with the tyre manufacturers to produce accurate sized tyres to fit a ETRTO standard sized wheel. Thats why Enve list those better tyre manufacturers as safe.

The wheel you are literally installing this tyre on is hookless. It is also only meant to run tubes in an emergency. You are also not supposed to use gatorskins especially or any tyre not on the recommeded list. The pressures you would be running in a tube could potentially blow the tyres off those rims
