Nope - I always leave it on for all the filter rollers I have

I'm building my stand with doors on the sides so I have easy access to 3 sides. Should make rollermat changes a lot easier no matter which brand I choose

Thanks for a great review, I'm considering this vs. Reefmat for a WB 90.3! Was there any difference in water clarity using Smart Roller vs. Reefmat?

This is the small version - I had to remove the stock filter sock section. The Red Sea baffle removal kit is excellent for that and only about £10

Hi Alex, Are you running a skimmer alongside this? Or do you feel like it does such a good job a skimmer isn’t really needed?

I don't run a skimmer on this tank, but only because I don't want the noise. I do run a refugium though and I personally wouldn't have this as my only filtration.

I'm surprised they haven't made a small slit for the roll end to be put through, to avoid having to use sellotape to fix?

This has actually been fine, but I do get connectivity issues with some of my RF stuff - it just disconnects then reconnects for no obvious reason

@ReefDorkXtra my smart roller keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Which in itself isn't an issue, but it's interrupting the roll log, so I am getting days without a log. I have tried everything that Reef Factory have suggested, and its not fixed it. I don't have any issues with any of my other equipment. My tank is only 2m away from the router, so I am not sure what's causing it.

@ReefDorkXtra that was my thinking, so I asked for a replacement but they said our devices rarely have issues with their Internet chips so I doubt its the device itself. Not really sure where to go next. I can't remember the UK rep but I spent quite sometime chatting to him at a reef show once maybe he would be willing to help.

@@bencameron4941 It was Tony at Coral Compass but he's retired now so they've taken distribution in house. I'd keep pushing them - doesn't matter if it's the chip or something else, if it's broken they should fix or replace it.

The first

I got this product. The build is flimsy and I had to rebuild it twice now. The roller spindle chews the plastic roller up and then doesn't work. The app is temperamental. I bought it because of the large flow volume. I would not buy another reef factory product again. Stay well clear of this roller matt and buy two smaller instead from a better manufacturer

Any motor issues with the reef factory filter roller? Seems Reefmats all have the same motor regardless of size and the motors are burning out in a few months-I smell a recall/redesign or face class action lawsuit…🫣

No issues so far. My ReefMat has been fine 2 years on but I've seen a few reports of motor fails. Red Sea (and Clarisea) spares are much more readily available than Reef Factory for what it's worth...

BRS now carries reef factory here in the US so I think Red Sea may have more competition now, especially if motors keep failing.
