This video gave me the tips I was looking for to perform the swap. It was completed successfully! Thanks! I would like to clarify a few things for other people who are considering this project: If you are not mechanically inclined, take it to a a professional. This is not a super difficult job, but it is much harder than the video makes it out to be. 1: You need to take the wheel off for one thing, so have jack stands, sturdy ones to be safe. Sequoia falls on you and you die, plain and simple. 2: Get online and buy Toyota fender well body attachment fasteners, because some that you remove will break - because old plastic. 3: Even with bending the plastic over to gain access to the old motorized unit, it's a tight fit to get a wrench to turn, so have a couple 1/4 inch drive extensions and a U-joint for your 10mm socket so you don't HAVE to get a wrench in there. 4:One of the hardest parts was getting the mudflap off- There is one body fastener underneath next to the tip of the running board. I found it helpful and actually necessary to use an Xacto blade to slit the tab of the mudflap that connects to this fastener to get it loose, but in a way so that it can lock back into place when you are finished and it still serves as an attachment point. 5: after you get the Unit installed you will be faced with routing the antenna wire through the hole in the body to the interior of the vehicle- SPRAY the rubber grommet on the antenna wire that mounts here with silicone lube spray for an easier time. Thanks me later. Finally: 6. YES the part number shown here works perfectly but a lot of people here do not seem to understand that NO it does not come with an actual mast. THIS IS GOOD because now you can take your pick of an unlimited number of aftermarket masts that simply screw in. The one I bought at O'Reily Auto Parts is a rubber stubby thing that works great and cost less than $10. It was a pain in the a$$ for sure but well worth the effort. Take your time and plan on on a three hour job minimum.

I appreciate your reply. I'm glad it worked for you. I made the video as user-friendly as possible. You can clearly see the jackstands in the video. if somebody doesn't know how to use jack stands for safety, they shouldn't be doing this job at all. I didn't need any of those special tools or an xacto knife. As I stated, it's easy but time consuming. The end result is never having to worry about a broken mast or broken antenna motor.

Agreed! I was trying to give some tips, and safety reminders are never a bad thing! I liked your video, and was not criticizing, just trying to give some tips that helped ME get the job done.

That mud flap pissed me off. I took off all the bolts and broke some of the plastic fastners just to run into that mud flap nonesence.

Thanks for the heads up Arkansmay. I plan on doing this but will suggest in Step 5 is to tie a wire or paracord to old antenna before removing from side wall. That way you can tie the new antenna end and pull it through.

This was by far the easiest and best way to swap out my old power antenna for a good old standard antenna. Thank you, it worked exactly as you described in about just as much time. Honestly the only issue was cutting the power to the old antenna, I'm never a fan of cutting wires but had to be done. No idea where or what they go into in the vehicle, but who cares, the power antenna is gone. Worked perfect!

I tried this and it is far from easy.I also removed the tire, the biggest problem is the plastic guard. Once you have access to the antennae you cannot unplug it to work on. It still has very little room to work on because of this issue. Just thought I would post this so other people would not attempt this and waste 3 hours of their time!
