Same here! I was thinking I needed to replace the hold antenna, then I saw this video and ordered the mast. Just replaced the it - DONE! Thanks Ed!

Thank you so much other videos did not explain that you had to twist to engage the mast in the motor I thought I bought the wrong mast great video!!!!!!

Thank you So Much!! All other videos for antenna replacement showed that it was needed to take out the entire push & pull mechanism from under the hood first.. Because of that I hed been pushing such repair until I could have enough free time to attempt this. After watching your video, it only took about 5 minutes to complete the entire task! Thank you again!!

Thanks Palo! My one additional suggestion is to buy a quality replacement antenna mast. The inexpensive one I bought from Amazon didn’t last long. I just bought a new one from the Toyota dealer. It was expensive at $90 but much more solid than the inexpensive (cheap) one.

Can I convert my manual antenna to power antenna? I have the switch already

When I removed the top screw and the black piece, the antenna just sunk, could I reattach this?

Just to clarify, do you still have to hear the sound of the motor (working in the fender), for this repair to work. I am not hearing anything when I turn on the radio, so I am assuming the motor is shot too. Any thoughts?

Yes, you should hear the antenna motor running even if the antenna mast isn’t moving. First, I’d check the fuse to see if it is blown. If it’s not then you might need to replace the antenna motor. Maybe some people who commented might have another solution or something to check before tackling the motor replacement.

@@Edburzminski Thanks Ed!!...hope it is the fuse, the motor issue looks like a much bigger job.

Just completed this repair (THANK you for the video!) and there is a problem. The antenna motor continues to run after the antenna mast has reached full extension...... grinding the gears. After grinding the gears for about 17 to 19 seconds, the motor finally shuts off. Any ideas how to fix this?

The metal sleeve on my old antenna is broke inside the shaft hole 😤

Got the new one down...but it wont go back up...old cord showed no damage...ideas anyone?

That sounds a little more complicated. The gear on the motor might be shot, which finally happened to me. I had to replace the entire antenna motor/antenna assembly. Replacing the motor was fairly easy, but the antenna cable cannot be separated from the motor; the new cable has to be run all the way back to the radio, which was challenging.

I own a 99 and when I did turn the key the Moter kept pushing the cord

Not sure this is what you did, but turning the key on will push the cable up. Turning the key off is when the cable is pulled into the hole.

What is the part number??? Thanks

I don't recall the part number, but if you contact a dealer, they'll get you the correct part number for your vehicle.

Doesn't your radio need to be on as well?

Yeah I had to do it again. Should've trusted my gut. Well at least on a 2001 the radio power controls antenna.

At a Toyota dealer. Previously bought one from Amazon but the it didn’t last long, so I decided to get one from the dealer. It was more expensive but it has lasted a long time.
