So i bought my tundra with 145000 miles on it. I dont know if the transmission fluid has ever been changed. Do i dare change it?
@ToolDemos
Жыл бұрын
@@randyewell3788 fresh oil cannot damage a transmission. If the transmission slips after doing a fluid change, it’s because the new fluid has only exposed the damage that was already there. My recommendation for people in your situation is to replace the fluid, but also be prepared for a transmission rebuild before you do.

Good video. I just bought a Tundra. I bought one of the motiv X wrenches and drain tubes for the filter. I didn't get the funnel but probably should have. I plan on doing oil analysis and only changing the filter every 5,000 miles or so. I will change the oil when the analysis says it needs to be changed. I've worked at places that do that with fleet trucks and sometimes they go 30,000 before dumping the oil. It seems to work fine because the trucks run well into the 200k miles without issues. One van used for commuting has over 500k miles and its still going.

If I had found your video last week I could have learned how you use two thumbs to push in the plastic drain funnel that comes with each new cartridge and saved myself $14 for a brass oil drain tool that screws into the canister. For years at every oil change on our RV 4 I was struggling to overcome the spring tension on the canister and get that plastic thing to seat in the hole with just one hand. Nice innovation on your part. Thank you. The video you made is excellent as well.

Thanks, Langston. Yup, the skid plate is awkward and the part of the job I like the least.
I have a 2019 TRD PRO. It has the access panel on the skid plate, so no more skid plate removal. I had a 2012 Tundra SR5. I had a buddy of mine cut an 8" hole in the skid plate to avoid removal every time I changed the oil. It cut the labor time in 1/2

Great video! I just recently did an oil change on my 2015 taurus sho and I used a torque limiting oil filter wrench from Klick Wrench in Canada. It both breaks loose and torque the filter down to around 18 torque and it fits a variety of filter sizes for either cartridge or spin on oil filters. They sell them online... all of their products were listed out of stock. But the largest one, the red one, was on amazon and I love using it. And their blue colored one is designed for toyota and other cartridge style that are smaller. I just like their products because filter install and removal is made so much easier and the quality is very top notch 👍

My 2015 "maintenance required light" goes out by setecting odo A. Turn key off. Turn key and push odo A at the same time.
I would ad an ez balve to the oil pan too
OEM tool is the Toy 640. Next question...
The skid plate is a pain and I cut a five inch access panel so I never have to take the skid plate off again and I have found that the amsoil filter element flow oil much better through the filter than the standard Toyotas filter but a lot more expensive

@ToolDemos

Thanks. Tundra u-joints and ball joints are non-greaseable. If yours have grease zerks, they’ll be after-market replacements. Grease those regularly.
a question for you?how i can check the disptick oil .in cold or in idle ..i;'m little confuse ,,in cold it should be between the two dots,like in middlle or in the up dot? its ok...OR WHEN IS in i k idle ,it should be touching the up dots?....thanks in advance ...
@ToolDemos
Жыл бұрын
Check the oil level with the engine off and the vehicle on level ground. The level should be between the two dots, but I like it to be closer to the upper dot. Whenever I check engine oil, I check it when it’s cold, just like tire pressure. If you check the oil when it’s hot it will show a little bit higher on the dipstick because oil expands when it’s hot.

So you don’t have to drain the oil from the pan before doing the oil filter?
@ToolDemos
10 ай бұрын
No, I actually prefer doing it in this order because when I drop the filter into my catch pan, it is not full of oil.
Why not have a hose on the drain plug insert tool?
@ToolDemos
7 ай бұрын
First, because I would have to clean a hose after I was done. And second because if you get the adapter in just right, it’s a very clean pour straight into a drain pan. I never spill a drop doing it this way.
I wonder all 5.7 same engine from 2007 to 2021 it should be same oil capacity why my 2008 takes 7.4 quarts exactly but yours takes 8.5 please if you have answer to my question answer me !!!!

Why exactly 7.9 quarts of oil in after the oil change? The engine oil capacity I find online for a 2018 Toyota Tundra is 8.5 quarts.
@ToolDemos
2 жыл бұрын
You’re right about the capacity. I checked the book again, 7.9 quarts is shown for ‘without oil filter’. 8.5 is ‘with oil filter’. So, when I fill it with 7.9 quarts, it will show full on the stick until I start the engine. After running it, the level is in the center of the two lines. I’ve been leaving it there, thanks for the correction.

@@ToolDemos Thank you, sir. I put just a tad over 8 qts in and started it up. I did a cold check a couple hours later and the the level was about 3/16" below the top mark. I'm putting in the last half quart of oil tomorrow. Actually, the oil level is now about where it was after 7500 miles but I'm quite sure it was on the top mark right after I did the last oil change 17 months ago and I did put 8.5 qrts in at that time. Thanks again for your extremely helpful tutorial.

The dealership usually. Check online, some dealerships offer discounts and cheap shipping. Be careful of eBay and Amazon, there are a lot of counterfeit parts on the market. (Marked with ‘Toyota’ packaging but really just a Chinese part.)
