How To Change The Hydraulic Fluid In a Massey Ferguson 35- Three Point System Won't Lift.

I bought a new brush hog for my MF35 the other day. When it came time to unload it from the trailer, the three-point system couldn't lift the brush hog. If you're in the same situation, this video might just help you, and save you a little heartache.
If your three-point system works, but won't lift with a load, it's very often as simple as low fluid or water in the hydraulics.

I have experienced the “milky” oil in my Massey 204. My first change didn’t get all the water out, and that all mineral 90w costs money. I drain it, put some in a high quality stainless bucket and put that on a hotplate. It’s set to slowly come up to just above 212F. Oil doesn’t mind seeing 215F, but all the water will leave. Maybe overnight, but when all bubbling and activity has ceased, and you see calm clean oil, let it cool and put it back into the tractor.

We do the same thing but with Nitro Methane. It is mixed with Alcohol and after a couple runs oil gets deluded. But, we use a lower Temperature. It takes longer. Better than blowing up! lol.

Mine wouldn’t work one day after firing it up. The rear arms were stuck at the top and wouldn’t move. I monkeyed with the control for a bit and all of a sudden it began to work. Some kids were here and moved the controls.

Thank you. I just bought a 72 inch shedder and the hydraulics lift it but it reacts slower than the 4 footer. I checked the hyd. Level and its milky then noticed the shifter boot are cracked. Where are you getting parts. I find some on Amazon. Thanks again. Country Corvette Guy.

Go to 4:35 in video, look at the shifter boot, that is where you are getting the water in it, notorious for the boots and water

Careful with that Brush Hog. A hidden stump will bend a shaft in a heartbeat. How do I know?...

I have a used 35 w/Davis front loader so maybe this is just because I got it at an auction as it’s had a lot of unique issues, but is there a third drain plug? Underneath I believe around the drivers seat on the underbody (not the side), it looks as though there was either a drain plug, or possibly just a missing bolt where I notice fluid slowly leaking from. It looks like the previous owner attempted some sketch bandaid fix by putting a cotter pin inside it. It obviously doesn’t just gush out fluid, but it’s noticeable and after a while results in an empty boot compartment. However at the same time, when I check the drain plugs shown in your video oil still leaks out. Any clue wtf is going on? The manual mentions hydraulic, transmission and differential but I’m not sure of the difference

Your crankshaft seal is leaking, allowing engine oil into the clutch housing. Tractor must be split to change the seal, the hole with cotter pin in it is a visual indication of the seal failure

Yes, its behind the plate where the PTO lever exits. inside the case just to the left, can be cleaned or filter replaced. 7 months late, but nice to know. Cheers.
