[HOW TO] Change the Engine Air Filter on a 2015-2022 Colorado / Canyon (Gas & Diesel) (EASY)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This video shows you how to examine and replace the engine air filter on your 2015-2022 Chevy Colorado. This video shows a 3.6L V6 model, but it will likely be similar for a 2.5L Inline 4 cylinder gas or the 2.8L Duramax Diesel models as all these engines have the same airbox.

Thanks for video. Thanks GM for making an air filter change more difficult than it needs to be. Also thanks for a windshield fluid reservoir that can’t fit an entire gallon of fluid.

Do u have a cabin air filter vid,when should I change the air fliters
@fondupot

Yes. Search my channel for the cabin filter video. I change mine every 6-8 months. More often if in dusty conditions.
👍👍👍👍👍
I bought a Napa Gold Air filter. Only (1) of the (4) screws screwed in all the way tight. The other 3 are spinning in place. It looks and feels solid on there. Anyone else have the issue of the screws spinning forever?
@fondupot
5 ай бұрын
The bottom of the air box has threaded holes in plastic. If the screws are over tightened the threads can be stripped out. Sounds like that’s what happened here. I would advise only using hand tools on those screws.
DUDE! How do you get the dat-blamed cover back on!? I got it off and replaced the filter, but am having a hard time getting over the rubber fringe to re-insert the three plastic "fingers".
@fondupot
2 жыл бұрын
It’s a tight fit. Once you have the three fingers in place you should be able to just lower the cover down onto the filter. And it creates a seal against the rubber. It’s meant to be tight.

@@rickwoods3952 If you can't get the hose off, carefully pry it free from the airbox tube with a flat blade screwdriver. Sometimes the tube gets stuck and its a kinda of a pain. Make sure you loosen the clamp as well.

How often should I change it
@fondupot
4 жыл бұрын
The owners manual says every 45,000 miles. More often if the vehicle is operated in extreme dusty environments. I tend to change mine out once a year, regardless of mileage.

I know right. It's like they are trying to make changing an air filter as difficult as rebuilding an engine.
Do u know where the fuel filter is at?
@fondupot

killer kev GM has been integrating fuel filters into fuel pumps inside the fuel tank for several years. I would guess that’s where it is.

1 more question. As you know, the 3.6 litter takes 5w30 oil...I accidently bought and changed the oil with 10w30 mobile 1 synthetic advanced protection 15 k miles, which isn't dexos certified. Done research and found oils are similar, just 10w30 is heavier. Should I drain it immediately, or is it ok for now? Your thoughts?
Diesel's?
@fondupot

It’s a similar process. Check the video description for more information.
I'll have to try and re-seat the air filter cover again, since I didn't loosen up the clamp of the flex tube. Still, a dumb design.
