Have just installed mine today thanks to your video. Shits all over the ones that come from the suppliers. BIG issue however was with the reversing camera. I found that the factory plug had another plug in it which had a much smaller plug on the other end that matched nothing. I couldn't get the reversing camera to work. SOLUTION: Remove the patch lead to the smaller plug and the new unit plug fits straight into the larger factory plug. Hope this helps someone and saves the 2 hours I spend trying to work it out!

Ok So just an update, I ordered one of these units, they were out of stock so it too 8 weeks to get it but it was so worth the wait. The unit is awesome and your video is a great video on how easy it is to install. It really made the difference and I referred to it more than theres. The only thing is based on how it comes in the box. There are some components which were loose in mine and were not easily explained or knew where to go but in the end I worked it all out. To all the other people out there, I am one of the least mechanically minded people and I found it very easy, all up it was installed from start to finish in just over an hour and thats because I could not get the reversing camera to work so I had to tinker until I found out what was missing being a square module which had no reference or labelling. I eventuality saw on a video where it went. I probably could have done it all in around 35 to 45 minutes. I am sure thats how long it will take me to do my neighbours car who will want one when he sees mine. Safe travels and keep up the great work.

When I was growing up my mother taught everyone of us how to wire up an electric plugin, those days when you bought anything electrical it didn’t come with a plug, she was forever giving us a lecture about looking for a screwdriver instead of using the knives, you brought back a memory with the butter knife 🤣🤣💕

Great video. Thank you. This inspires confidence! Just taking delivery of a LC200 4.6 V8 VX 2011 vintage. But the key unique point is the 15" screen built into the dash. It is good to know there is a community that can help support this - and established suppliers and replacement parts are there. In our country - we would get an electrician to fix. Buut good to know what he is doing...in there.

very few vehicles have a good head unit, I now use an old 10" android tablet and just bluetooth it to the head unit for the sound, probably not as good as replacing with an up market headunit but a lot cheaper. and the tablet I use allows me to split screen so i can run 2 apps at the same time, a handy feature.

I’m guessing that with the sim in it would be like having your standard gps connected to your Toyota link app, it allows you to search businesses online and then access their location data. It’s a very handy but underutilized system because in general the Toyota tech is so slow but with Apple car play etc, you can basically do the same thing without having to have a dedicated sim.

We’ve ordered the VX model 300 series land cruiser and it has a much more comprehensive head unit than the GXL! GPS all standard in the VX and above. The GXL still only have the basic unit. Still waiting for it to arrive!

Looks awesome. Might even get their upgrade for the VX, the standard Toyota unit looks ok but it’s useless.

@@TripInAVan Ms Google gives you a warning 300 meters before the turn, Toyota tells you to turn just after you go past !

G'day Jason, does it tell you what the speed limit is in the area your driving, eg sign posted 80 km? My wife and I enjoy watching your trips. You both come across very natural and down to earth. Great stuff. Regards Scott

Thanks for the down to earth fitting of this unit - I'd have to agree that the standard unit is crap, can't even get the reversing lines (if you need them of course) doesn't come standard on this model was what Toyota told me but come standard in a Yaris or Corolla. But one question nothing to do with the head unit where did you get your coffee cup from its look pretty solid......and keep the vids coming. Best wishes from Burpengary

Thanks for the discount code. Mine should turn up in about 6weeks they say. Do you have a rear view camera on the back of your van and if so does the radio etc still work while driving along with the camera on ?

Hi Bloke EC do some great mods, put the paddle shift in my chopped 200. Did I see you got Hema on the head unit? If so how and how well does the version work compared to the older iOS version?
