Love the channel Charles curious as to why you and seems like most bike builders these days don't build their own engines I can see sending it out for machine, crank and cylinder work but why not just build the engines in house dirt bike engines are not that difficult to do especially 2 strokes I've always done my own engine work seems like it would save the time and money of sending it back and forth and also having the extra expense for the engine assembly the more in house work you do the more the build is all mXrevival.

Thanks Rob! You're so very right. Especially for a solo guy. If I were just doing a rebuild for myself, I would do it exactly as you said. In my case, and with bike building to reach a broader audience, or for a magazine for example- there is a lot of sponsorship. I get a great build team of friends and companies together to showcase what we can do. We all promote ourselves this way, build up new and exciting things to showcase for everyone, generate content, and before you know it you have built a killer, monster of a bike with all of your industry buddies. We all help each other build exceptional bikes. It is one of the greatest ways I have ever made new friends and industry connections. Hands down. It's how we connect with each other. That saying: "It takes a village" is in full effect here. It's nice to have a literal expert in each field handle their portion of a build too. There are many, many more reasons as well such as time constraints, multiple builds going on, regular life, and customer orders. But I think you get the point. They just aren't the average build or repair (which are still of course, very important). -Charles // mXrevival

@@mxrevival I hear ya. I'm about to go with Caswell's zinc plating solution. Replating the carb and random parts for my '76 vette. I'm interested in the copy caf coating, the blue chromate, and black chromate coatings. You have an insta account? I'd like to follow the build. Thanks, Pat.

@@mxrevival Just sent a follow under pat_g84. I should really make another account for the vette stuff. Yea I sourced most of the plating stuff after reading the Caswell Plating book a few weeks ago and now trying to rig up a tumbler for the parts as I don't have a sandblast tank and big compressor. On the list of things to get but no room at the moment. If I tumble the Rochester Carb body in a homemade vibratory thing I think that'll be a first. Have to be careful not to remove the raised ridges on the casting that help seal to the gasket. I'm sure if I KZreadd it someone would say, hey you can't do that hahaha.
