We come to watch this tutorial either have no clues or in need of a better approach. Mitch’s videos are the best when it comes to DIY scooter big/small repairs with basic mechanic tools & household items (MacGyver style). We are all grateful for the instructional assistance and prompt Q&A responses. Please ignore all the idiot comments if you are true DIYers not backseat riders. Lastly, I sincerely thank Mitch for all the excellent videos in time of need. God bless. 💯🥰👍🤟

FYI: Yellow dot indicates light spot on tire, align with valve stem. Red dot indicates high point for radial runout. If wheel has a white mark or dimple, line red dot with it, if not red dot goes anywhere. Small wheels/tires often have no marks. Cheers!....Russ

Excellent instructions as always. I have done this job a couple of times, and even though I saved some money, it just kills your knees, hands, arms and lower back. I’ll be paying next time for the change. On another note, Brisbane, Australia has similar climate to your island and have found the Pirelli Angel scooter on my XMAX300 to be absolutely amazing. Especially in the wet, the tyres have never even once given me a scare (I’ve scratched my centre stand a couple of times while leaning in the turns). They have approximately 9000km on them and still feel like new. Cheers!

no joke ended up getting those type tire tools myself because a big flat head screw driver doesn't cut it.
@MitchsScooterStuff
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks ✌
The way you're doing it is much less labor-intensive than the way that I did it one time, I mounted a scooter tire myself once, I used 3 screwdriver and a ratchet strap, removing the tire was easy enough, but mounting the new one was one of the hardest jobs I've ever done in my life, I had to use three big flat-head screwdrivers to get it on the rim, and I used the strap to push the bead out so that it would hold air, needless to say after that pain, I now take my tires to a shop for mounting
@MitchsScooterStuff
3 ай бұрын
👍🏼 if you do more often then it will be so easy, I can get it done 5-10 minutes after many practices
Another tip... clip a pair of mole grips on the rim when putting tyre back on so you don't have to keep your knee on it 😁
@sudhirtirkey3234
Жыл бұрын
You are right. But very few people keep tyre lever at home, not to talk about mole grips. Also sometimes the old tyre sticks to rims and it requires hammer and tyre lever to separate tyre from rims( One can use C clamps or mole grips to press the tyre)
You make it look easy. I have sweated and cursed for over an hour with the tire on my Buell. I took the next tires to a shop (expensive).
@MitchsScooterStuff

When rope or hose is between rim and tire, is easier put iron to gap in tightest section. Rope also help pull tire out against leg on rim. Wipe soap off before inflating.

If is hard to get bead to seat on the rim, valve stem hole give bigger opening to get more air in. When stem is inside with string to pull it in hole. Use high pressure and large , short hose.

If the old tire is going in the trash anyway, you can also simply use a knife. Get the air out first though seriously, stabbing a filled tire and instantly pulling the knife out is gonna knock your ears out

17 inch moped tires are easier as their larger size are more stretchy n flexible. 👍✌️ 12 or 14 inch scooter tires smaller are less stretchy. 😅 Unless its a soft compound then it's easier. 🤭

@@MitchsScooterStuff What can I say Mitch... I'm still busy building up the Peugeot Elyseo 50, unfortunately I don't have a garage where I could work on it in winter. So it will all have to wait until the temperatures are in the comfortable range. However, I'm done with the electrics, a new exhaust is in place and if the weather permits (lots of rain here at the moment) I'll install the cleaned Gurtner carburetor and hope that the Diva will then run. If she does, I'll also give her new tires... And then, let me have fun ....😉Maybe, but only maybe I'll install a 70 cc cylinder kit and optimize the variator 😁 Greetings from Germany, the birthland of VW PS: Kona looks chic
