The tool box is out, looks like we are working on something today.
I show you step by step on how to replace POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH OR SENSOR on this 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis, Ford Crown Victoria, Lincoln Town Car. Easy to follow instructions with basic tools. So easy you can do it yourself! I believe in you. Save a ton of money by doing it yourself. If you are experiencing noise coming from under the hood or feel that the steering wheel is stiff or choppy don't think the worst, most likely it's a simple fix like this. Look to see if there's puddles or leaks on the ground under your vehicle. pretty easy fix and took me about 15 minutes to switch out. make sure to add power steering fluid and turn the wheel back and forth to get the air out of the system. YOI CAN DO IT I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!

    The panther platform does not use Power Steering fluid, it uses Mercon V Transmission Fluid as power steering fluid. Make sure to add the correct fluid.

    YES !!! ALL Panthers require the MERCON V Transmission Fluid for the Power Steering Systems. These systems are very sensitive to the VISCOSITY of the fluid. Aftermarket "Power Steering Fluid" is NOT recommended. I use and recommend the CASTROL "TransMax" Synthetic MERCON V Trans Fluid -- with Trans Filter (Motorcraft) changes at 35,000-mile intervals. For MAXIMUM trans life, a B&M Trans Cooler was installed, and a B&M Shift Kit. EXCELLENT performance and operation -- now at 181,000 miles.

    My 04 is making a lot of noise on the power steering pump when it’s cold, checked the fluid level and it’s fine, no leaks. Maybe the previous owner put a thicker oil than he should. Thanks for the video, I will replace the rear shocks this weekend, found your channel while looking for that.

    Good video, alot different on a p71 to do. I woulda used transmission fluid (mercon v/lv) basically just get valvoline maxlife high mileage. Nothing wrong with using the clear stuff, its all hydraulic fluid in the end. Transmission fluid just seems "quieter".

    ALL Panthers take "MERCON V " Transmission Fluid as the juice for the Power Steering. Mercon V is specified for a REASON, which is that the Ford Power Steering systems are very sensitive to VISCOSITY of the fluid. The notion that "it's all hydraulic fluid in the end" , and that you can go ahead and use non-MERCON juice is NOT a practical idea. MERCON V , baby !! 😁

    I didnt have any codes or anything when this happened..I’m not sure why it’s even there if it didn’t do anything when all my fluid leaked out and lost all my power steering.

    I was thinking about that. And I personally don’t know the function that this sensor serves. Because when It was leaking and all my power steering was gone there was no chime, nor light no warning no nothing….i get it, it’s a pressure sensor but if all pressure is gone or too much pressure then what the purpose of it…🤷🏻‍♂️ if yours is going well than insure someone can use this info for their situation. Thanks for stopping by and sharing 👍🏼

    I installed the universal line when I did a repair the new line did not require the sensor, and the sensor had a blank place in the frame where to plug it in, weird.

    I’ve seen that before I think on a crown Vic, some have some don’t. Don’t really know whats it’s for if it was leaking I lost all power steering, and it didn’t do squat.

  • @abdullah0490

    Does this sensor cause difficulty in the steering wheel, even though there is no leakage?

  • @LoveWhatYouDrive

    @LoveWhatYouDrive

    2 ай бұрын

    I’m not sure on that. Why I say this is because even when all my power steering fluid leaked out, no light no warning nothing was given sensor or not. I lost complete power steering ability. It is a pressure switch which should regulate pressure or keep an eye out on the pressure one of the comments below Says the guy took it out, completely plugged the hole and has perfectly fine power steering without issues. I did not do extensive research to figure out the full function of the pressure switch. I first thought it was my power steering pump, and technically it was making noise because the fluid leaked out, I would start with the switch either replacing it or plugging it and then moving yourself up to the pump, the belt, the fluid reservoir and then new lines that run power steering fluid through.

    From further research some if not most of the p71 crown Vics have a dummy plug in the line and the wired plug should be somewhere tucked away in the frame. That is interesting though

    @kennywarren2317 I’m guessing where the switch is located on my car, there should be the wire. I’ll post the things I read on crownvic.net “OK, I see. But why is it plugged in to that dummy plug on the frame? Seems it has always been plugged in there. Is there really no pressure switch? I only see the gold-colored bolt. No switch” www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2806000 Do some deeper research!

    Hey man if you haven’t got an answer yet you have a pressure switch solenoid like mine. Years 03 - 07 or 08 i believe have it similar to our and its located on the rack and pinion body. Specifically located a little off to the right under your oil filter. It will have a wire connected to it coming from behind the power steering pump.
