MY DISCLAIMERS:
Brakes are important, don't take this job lightly. Follow the steps and check your brake manufacturer's owner's manual for specific details and steps from them. When in doubt, visit a local bike mechanic, or send me a message and we can zoom! arleigh at bikeshopgirl.com

Very good video! Thank you for making this easy to understand.
Thanks again for another excellent video at the right time to check and if needed to replace parts on ebikes!
Love your vids! This is timely for me
Nicely done.
@5:25 - 5:27 I hear a grinding noise that's similar to my bike. I just got a new bike and have ridden about 45mi now and I'm noticing that same noise when I brake. I hadn't noticed it before and it just started.
Aaand now I found the brake video. Helpful but TBH probably more technical that what I would do on my own. Would love the lazy girls guide to know when to brink the bike in. What’s the key to checking pad wear?

@@BikeShopGirl these videos are great. With 30+ years of car ownership under my belt I know how to do all these checks with 4 wheels. Now that we ditched a car for an HSD I appreciate learning how to keep an eye on maintenance for our new 2 wheels. Love the videos!
I couldn’t really see the cotter pin part very well. Do all brands of hydraulic disc brakes use these pins ? Great video if you have shimano…..

Many brands use a cotter. Others are using a pin that screws in. Same concept
Maybe, it's a stupid question, but do I need to worry about hydraulic fluid? Ty, Chris

at some point you may need to bleed your brakes but they aren't typically required when swapping brake pads.

Only if your levers feel soft/spongy.
