This is the exact video I needed! Thank you. I was doing it wrong - just like you say here where I brake to 15 mph and then let go of the brake and push down the clutch to change it down to second gear....this explains exactly why I haven't been able to get it right. I simply could never get to a low enough speed for making a turn, so always felt a bit out of control. I need to STAY ON THE BRAKE during the whole thing :D

Thanks for the video, Paul. I want to suggest a video idea. How to downshift without slowing down. For example, when you need more power to pass somebody on a country lane, or to go uphill.

I've been known to rush the clutch release, I'll use your method then I can lol.

This video helped a lot. What if I need to slow down to drive at around 17-20mph through a village centre with poor visibility, do I stay in 3rd even if the car feels like it's struggling a bit? It's not really a low enough speed to change down into 2nd comfortably.
