i own a grand Vitara i merely disconnect the axle from the transaxle remove the hub cap and snap ring and remove the axel no need to drop ball joints or tie rod ends or any of those other components works best with tires on in an weight bearing state this video isn't wrong but its the absolutely hardest way to do this task

When you knocked off the outer cv joint with a hammer was there any circlips holding it on because I am having trouble knocking it off

You can pull the sturt but its more difficult that way

There is a trick to getting the CV joint out (from GV 2006-2013) ensure that all 3 bolts are out from the wish bone and sway bars or the rotation sensor wiring will get damaged (cost me $75 aud to replace the sensor). Putting bolts back is best to start from the lowest one and twist the bush into correct alignment for the bolt to go in easily.
