    I own a 2016 1.4L Cruze and its treated me very well. I've put MILES on this thing so I love it. Got it at 36k and she's now sitting at 113k miles. She's ran great, minus common coolant system issues. I'll list all of the repairs I've made over the years below. I looked up Chevy Cruze videos and some gave me the great tip of "getting ahead of common issues/repairs and replace parts early to avoid future headaches", which is a GREAT idea. It'll cost a bit to DO IT ALL at once so take your time. But believe me, you will be happy you did. As I said most have been for the coolant system and so far I've vvvvvvv Replaced the reservoir with the new, better Dorman reservoir. Replaced EVAP Purge Valve New lower radiator hose, the thick hose that feeds from the radiator into the thermostat. The thermostat itself. Oxygen sensors, upstream & downstream. Coil pack & spark plugs. New, bigger battery. All very easy fixes. Annoying but easy. Parts were all from Dorman, ACDelco & Murray companies. All purchased at Autozone, O'Reilly's or Amazon. All well under $100 each too. I hope this helps you and other Chevy Cruze owners!

    Look into or learn what's called first thread drop! Start with going counter clockwise until you feel the plug drop just a little you will also hear it drop when this happens you are at the first thread. You will not have to take the plug back out at all and you will guarantee no cross threading at all!! Works with all bolts! 🙂🙃

    Hey man, so I replaced my spark plugs and coil pack, and I just wanted to say Thank you. That was sooo easy!! I went ahead and purchased an actual spark plug socket wrench from O'Reily's. I know I didn't need it necessarily, but it was magnetic and pretty cool looking. And you were right about disconnecting the battery...that was easy, too, and in my opinion an important safety precaution. I think the hardest part was disconnecting the electrical connection. I didn't want to break the orange tab, but I eventually got it off. Also changed my air filter and cabin air filter. Do you have any videos on how to replace hoses or to check for engine leaks??? Again, thank you so much for empowering me.

I did everything step-by-step and when I proceeded to pull the coil pack out, 3 of the 4 plugs broke off and remained inside. I had to carefully pull them outand vacuum any remaining pieces that broke off. Nonetheless, I was successful at replacing the spark plugs and installed the new coil pack. Car runs great! Hi Mike.. good job!!!! I just did my plugs and coil pack on same engine .... I would like to make a suggestion even tho they say the plugs come pre gapped it's always a good idea to use a feeler gauge and double ck what owners manual specifications are as i found in my manual it says anywhere between 60mm - 70mm gap ... When I checked my ac delco pre gapped plugs they came in as .65mm ... So it's a good idea to check them with a feeler gauge if your manual is specific on gap ... thanks for the great video.. question is this a different cruze than the one you replaced the coolant reservoir on? If so what year is the new one? ..

    Do the spark plugs need grease before inserting them?

  • @DIYwithMichaelBorders

    @DIYwithMichaelBorders

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. It depends on who you ask and will boil down to personal preference. Some people use dielectric grease which helps alleviate moisture from gathering inside connection points...which is great...however if too much dielectric grease is used, this can lead to the brand new spark plugs performing worse than your old ones. Tiny bit goes a long way...you can add just a tiny bit of dielectric grease to the tips of the spark plug that the boots connect onto. This will also help a few years down the road when you replace your spark plugs and wires as the dielectric grease helps make removing the wires from the plugs easier. Hope this helps. 😎👍🔧🔩

I plan to replace the clip if the dealership sell it seperately. I also have one more issue. There was oil leaking from my old valve cover in which some of the oil leak in my spark plug well. Is there an way to remove the excess oil?

    cece parham Thanks for the reply. You can remove plugs & clean oil off with a paper towel. It’s extremely important that you do your best to not allow oil to get on the bottom igniter portions of the plugs. This will foul plugs out and will only lead to additional engine issues. Worst case scenario, if you do get oil on the bottom portion of plugs, you can just purchase brand new plugs at AutoZone for a friendly price.

    @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Sure no worries! thx for reaching back out. Coil pack did the trick. 115k miles (2nd owner) car is in great shape I even put 4 Touren rims on it some years back. so I think little things might be on the fritz. I changed the purge value a few months back when engine light came on. I pulled the code. thanks to youtube and you guys I did the replacement myself. Easy peezy lol. One thing had a tiny bit of oil in the spark plug well changing the coil pack. Assume that was because of the misfire and oil getting on the plug. I don't know if that will evaporate or just reside there. I tried to get a clean cloth down there to maybe absorb it, but it didn't really do much. It was just a coating, but in all 4 wells. Probably soon i'll need a value cover gasket. ps boots came on coil pack - had no idea :)

    These plugs do not work in my 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.8L - Bought one set off Amazon had a misfire in cyl. 3 car misfires bucks and rough idle. Returned them got another set and as of yesterday still choppy / hesitation at times when driving. Reviews on Amazon there is a handful of reviews including misfires. So I guess its a hit or miss with them. Not worth the aggravation saving $15 I'll be going to Autozone in the AM for actual rated OEM plugs for this car.

    Maybe this wasn't my problem, do you think you can lend me some advice? Yesterday I was going down the road and the car started shaking real bad with the check engine light flashing and the traction control light staying on. I limped it to my nearest auto zone, they checked the codes and told me I had a bad fuel injector on my number 2, I replaced it and nothing changed. I did some research on my own and found that it could possibly be the spark plugs or the coil pack. I changed the plugs, nothing. I changed the coil, nothing. Now I'm at a loss. It's still a very rough idle, though it smooths out with increase in RPMs and it's very slow to accelerate, at times I've got to pump the pedal just to get it to move. What do you think I should try next?

    @@DIYwithMichaelBorders my Cruze is throwing the code p0302, misfire on cylinder 2. From what i understand some of the possible causes are the coil, plugs, injectors, vacuum leak, cam or crank shaft sensor and low compression. I've ruled all if these out except for low compression and the vacuum leak. I'll be doing the compression test as soon as I can get the car towed home, if it fails I think it'll be the O-rings that cause it.
