In this video, I show you how to change brake pads on your modern dirt bike. This one happens to be a 2019 Husqvarna TE300i. This one of the bikes that I will be giving away with a sweepstakes drawing event from March 1 to April 30 of this year. Stay tuned to the channel for more details as we near closer to March.

You should start by cleaning the calipers and pads with a can of brake clean. Then a quick sand with 180 emery cloth both pads and rotors quick cross hatch hit it with the brake clean again. Double check your hardware isn’t bent (it’s thin) LUBE your contact points! Then go back out and try it. Not blowing $65 on the same pads thinking it’s a “bad set” when money is more tight lol. Which yea it could be but these come dry in all the lube points all over the bike from all the manufactures. Great channel tho man! I’m a long time fan. Average rider father and husband like you.

I was curious if you still recommend the new YZ250X for trail riding. It's been a couple years since you've talked much about it.

If you look at them used they all have that texture but those pads are a cheap hard compound for when the brakes get good and hot they dont fail on you like the softer materials do but I get what your saying.. I prefer the harder pads but I also ride the unknown basically no trails kinda areas alot of up and down hills and the harder pad is perfect once they get a good 5 minutes of downhill in them every ride :)

Personally I don't care for the brembo pads. The power is stellar on brembo, but they have too much initial bite for my tastes. The tusk sintered are way better imo.

I wish you had those rare parts for older ktm dirt bikes... I got an 01 200 and there's not much stuff for them, at least that I can find

Should have taken some brake cleaner to the pads and rotor ,they come oil contaminated from the factory, but a necessary evil for storage.

Why wouldn't you clean the rotors before you rode it ? Then using a screwdriver to open up the NEW pads ? Wtf ? Use a clamp on the piston .

My last 3 bikes KTM, Husky, KTM all came with pads that squeaked after 1-2 rides. Replaced pads with aftermarket. First tried EBC on a 2014 KTM, they squeaked, then went to Galfer- no more squeaks, better feel than the brembos or the Magura's that came on my 2019 Husky. Part of the issue may be that the stock brakes have no lubrication and the brakes don't slide on the pins, and just breaking in the cast calipers, creates metal burrs that scratch up the initial set of pads. Not sure, but doing a redue after a few hours on the bikes seems to work. Suspension has similar issues. Thanks to your other videos on suspension set up, I am very happy with both the forks and shock on my 2023 KTM after hours of sequential adjustments, including adjusting the chain by removing the rear shock bolt on a stand and a linkage bolt, to find the proper chain tension as the wheel moves up freely. It's almost 4 of my fat fingers or it binds and makes you think the problem is the shock. Grease all the needle bearings with blue grease, and reconfigure the entire front end in the exact proper order and save a couple thousand dollars on sending everything out for a re-valve and re-spring. Keep up the good work. Best channel and great comments to clarify what can't be caught in a time restrained video.

You use a screwdriver to spread them? Wow, didn't know that was ok, if you were to do that on a bicycle u would get so much crap from some know-it-alls
