How To Change And Bleed 🛠🏍 Front KTM Brembo Brakes | Replace Brake Pads and Brake Fluid

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Check out our line of Enduro Helmet chin mounts for action cameras - shop.wannabes.life
In this video we are going to be changing the front Brembo brake pads on a 2010 KTM 300 xcw. This process is the same across the board for most KTM and Husqvarna years and models. We will also go over how to bleed the brake fluid through the brake system to flush out the old brake fluid and any bubbles that might have got into the brake line. This is a relatively simple process that is easy to do with some basic hand tools. There are a few tricks that will make your life easier and we will go over those in the video. It is very important when you are bleeding the brakes that you make sure to not get any air in the brake system, by keeping the reservoir full of brake fluid, otherwise you will have a bigger project on you hands than you had bargained for.

    I've watched a ton of these vids for ... I think yours was the best. You paid a lot of attention to detail, especially on the brake lever compression / release instructions.

    I use a (reusable) cable tie to temporarily/repeatedly hold the lever in. Time consuming, true, but if you have no help, it works.

    Good video, i will add that the anti rattle plates and clips inside the caliper need attention paid to them tou didn't explain what they do or where they are located in the caliper and what thier function is, if the clips and anti rattle plates are too loose the pads knock around in service

    It takes a long time and many repetitions to bleed motorcycle brakes. I'd say keep at it, they should firm up eventually.

    @@braydenwitt7361 so we did a video on back bleeding brakes where you push brake fluid through the system from the caliper end. It pushes the bubbles out and it’s a lot faster. That will probably help you more than this video.

  • @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    The biggest thing is to make sure the lever is firm. If you can pull it in to the handlebars it probably still has air in the line. If you’re just replacing the fluid then just push enough fluid through till it comes out clear. If you have bubbles coming out you need to keep going.

    My brakes won't work. They keep locking up. You can bleed them but the pressure remains and only builds the more you squeeze the brake. Over these brakes

    I’ve never run into that. My guess would be something is blocking fluid from returning or something is mechanically binding the pads or caliper.

    You left too much fluid in that reservoir. I did the same thing once an the fluid boiled, expanded too much and blew out the caliper seals, locked the brakes up, pretty much ruined everything.

    with my brakes, i have tried to bleed them several times now and no matter what i do, the lever pumps and pumps and never gets firm. the caliper doesnt even move. did i suck air into the line? and if so how do i fix it?

  • @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    If you're bleeding them right (meaning you're careful not to let air in each time) then keep going. It can feel like forever until all the air is out. We also have a video up on how to speed up the process by back bleeding the system.

    @@ExtremeSportsWannaBes will air get sucked in through the motion pro bleeder? thats the only spot i can think of that would let air in. i did notice it drips brake fluid when i open the bleeder.

  • @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    @ExtremeSportsWannaBes

    2 жыл бұрын

    Air won't really get sucked in unless you actuate the lever with the bleeder open or let air in from the reservoir. But these master cylinders don't move very much fluid at a time, so it can take a while to bleed them.

    It shouldn’t be too hard to pull the lever. Have you tried replacing the seals on the master cylinder? Usually it’s not a problem unless they are leaking but I’m not sure why else it would be difficult to pull in the lever

    i mean when you leaver the caliper pistons in with a screwdriver against the pads. i had to use a G clamp to push them in. i’ve flushed the fluid and cleaned and greased the sliders. the pads are a bit old but not so old. i will try cleaning seal grooves out and if they look bad or won’t fit back in i guess it’s because they are swollen from contamination and will order new. and new pads while i’m there.
