Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Prelude curse got me! This video shows you how to step by step change a water pump on a Honda Prelude Accord or Civic . The 5th generation of honda Prelude 1997-2001 came with H22A4 and some have been swapped to H22A and F20B like mine. I hope this clears up come of the mysticism with changing a Honda Prelude water pump.

    Do you need to apply gasket maker when putting on a new water pump? Because there is already a gasket in there

    You don’t have to but I do just because I don’t want to have to go back in and fix it if the gasket doesn’t seat properly haha

    Oem civic fan. I had one of those high output direct mount ones but it caused overheating as there were hot spots on the corners where the fan did not draw air through

    Steve, yes this is very common for 4 cylinders engines as most of them only have a timing belt or timing chain. In the aftermarket they do sell electric ones to reduce parasitic losses. Usually 4 cylinder performance builds in the 1000hp+ use an electric water pump and then they instal a timing belt driven fuel pump in its place. This gives you more consistent linear fuel pressures as demands get higher. To make 1000+hp you are running 4 2200cc injectors and -10AN fuel lines lol my prelude could do it but unless you run 24” wide slicks it’s not practical.

    When you’re loosening the timing belt, what exactly are you loosening and tightening?

  • @thestateofreal2533

    @thestateofreal2533

    Жыл бұрын

    There’s is a tensioner. Stock ones are automatic tensioners which have a bad history of failing so most of use move to manual tensioners which consists of a bolt coming off a block of aluminum with a lock nut to keep everything in position once at the right tension

  • @thestateofreal2533

    There are four motor mounts and if yours are in good continuation the block won’t move much. When your are putting the mount back in you might need to jack it.

    Almost all parts from an h are compatible with the f20b except pistons rods, h22a4 for 1997 cranks (50mm journals) oil pick up and pan. The f20b manual heads are almost identical as well with the only differences being 1mm smaller intake valves and h22 type s cam profile.

    Don’t buy a kit as 98% of the time they are garbage. Spend your money on a good thick manifold of whatever orientation you want then piece together the rest. I pieced together mine and this setup has years of use (abuse) in it.
