How to change a steering wheel clock spring on a international prostar truck

horn and steering wheel switche lights not working the cause in my case is bad clock spring.
TO ALIGN THE STEERING WHEEL
MAKE SURE YOUR STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT. TAKE A PERMANENT MARKER AND DRAW A STRAIGHT LINE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL NEAREST TO THE NUT,THROUGH THE NUT THROUGH THE SHALF TO THE OTHER SIDE. MAKE SURE TO PUT THE STEERING WHEEL BACK ON ALIGNED WITH THE LINE YOU DREW WITH THE PERMANENT MARKER.

Was that steering clock making noise when its turning? Is that why changing it ?

It was making a slight noise, but my main reason to change it was that the switches weren't working.

Then it might be your clock spring pull off your cover and see if your harness is still connected to the clock spring or play with the harness maybe there is a short.also check to see if there is a fuse that control the things on the steering wheel.

Hey the reason why you replaced the clock spring only because the controller was not working, or also because the steering wheel is to loose?? I am wondering because I am about to replace the clock spring as you does but because when the truck is off the steering wheel pivot easy left or right to much so whole drive yhe truck on the road the steering is not perfect and I 'am sometimes afraid to have an accident . Can I aswell replace the clock springs or it is an other issue . Thx you for any answer

I replaced the clockspring because the lights and the city horn wasn't working. If your steering wheel is loose make sure the cause is not from your steering shaft or steering box.

Yes its a puller you can find them at the auto store you will need it to replace the clock spring not the horn button, you might have miss spoke. If the puller bolt dont fit get the right bolts at the hardware store.

@@ppgk92 my horn is located behind my front pumper the wires are routed up to the clock spring harness. Also my horn stop working before but the issue was not the clock spring. The horn itself was no good but luckily there was a spare horn bolted in the same location so all i had to do was unplug the old one and plug in the new one.if you got new horn and the wire connector fit in the horn and it don't work when you press the horn you might have a broken wire Somewhere. You can get 2 pieces of wire and attach then to your battery and then to your horn if your horn dont have a positive and negative on the connector i don't think it matter what wire go on the connector pin if your horn works then you have a broken wire Somewhere on your truck

Yes my TC light was coming and going before i change the clock spring and the clockspring and steering wheel sensor are two different parts. The sensor is further down on the steering column.
