Yeh....you can't really get them that cheap anymore. They changed the filters to these new and improved ones and in turn upped the price! I'd say about £4 each now is a good deal!

I have to watch this each time I change the filters. Those diagrams describing the process are impenetrably cryptic! Thanks for the video, I can't believe how simply it actually is after all.

🇬🇧 I think this is probably the best video for the Brita water filter on KZread. It goes much further than just changing the water filter, it actually shows you how to set the whole jug up. I agree with some people that the instruction manual is useless and confusing with its silly pictures. Good point too regarding using the filter for a little longer than the month. I often think these manufacturers deliberately tell you to change things much quicker than you need too just to sell the products.

Great tutorial - I subscribed. Thanks for the tips on flashing the filter twice before using it and on watering your plants so you don't waste water. And I wouldn't think of washing the jug as it's only water and I keep it clean any but it's a good idea.

Your video was a large part of what enabled me to justify getting some new cartridges. It’s been more than a year since my housemate left one of these in my possession. The water where we are is pretty damn good by itself, i enjoy having a carafe of filtered water available for any circumstance. It never got much use, i usent to be overly focused on hydration. The water filter cartridge Im about to change has been going for most likely 24 mo. Never noticed a change in the quality of the water over time however I’m preparing for any noticeable change in quality now that i put a new cartridge in. TBH I’m keen on washing the entire jug regularly, it stays spotless inside. It’s just as well the cartridges don’t allow anything back into the water when they are old, I’d have been drinking a stern brew of “stuff” in the last 6mo.

Fantastic explanation! I also couldn’t make out what the instructions on the packet was saying, either. My private carer actually put the filter straight in and we started using it like that. I think I had the gunk of the toxic ingredients of the filter possibly. I put the filter straight in once again and then told myself that I should watch a tutorial on this. So I followed your instructions to the t except I only poured water into the new filter as I had already done this initially. Thank you so much 🙏🏼!

Thank you for the video. I bought the same Brita filter but before using I didnt put Maxtra Filter in water. It turned out, first Filter must be lowered into water and then shaken. I hope it won't affect on Filters work. And now I will know how it must be done correctly.

Thanks for the helpful video. Once in use, do you need to keep the water level high enough so at least some of the cartridge is submerged? This was necessary with my previous water filter jug (Classic)to keep it moist, but I can't find anything in the instructions for the Maxtra that says you need to do this.

I've been using one for years and the water level is often down below the filter. I've never had any problems! Hope that helps..

Great video. I wasn't aware of the washing the jug components each filter change in hot soapy water so thanks. They say change the cartridge every 4 weeks but it would be far better to specify it by say every 150 jug fills etc. Thanks again for the video.

I can't say I've ever noticed that. Are you using Brita filters rather than the cheap replacements? The plastic it fits into isn't cracked is it?

Yes the water now runs through faster than I show in the video. This is because of the new style filter cartridges.

Hey buddy thanks for the video. But I wished I had watched it before installing the filter by myself. Now the problem is that the water takes about 5 minutes to pass through the filter. Did I do anything wrong???

+Roh G Could be you didn't dunk the filter in the water first? That gets rid of the any air in it so maybe there's like a little air lock? It does take a while to pass through anyway but I wouldn't say 5 mins!

The batteries last forever as far as I can tell! We've had ours about 5 years and it's still going! The timer will pop out of the lid with the help of a flat bladed screwdriver.

Great tutorial! I have a couple of questions though, if you don't mind. I have noticed some black particles in the water at the bottom of the jug. Have you experienced that as well, by any chance? Also, how does your water taste? Mine doesn't have the chlorine odour anymore but unfortunately it tastes metallic. Thanks! 😊😊

+manu iacob I can't say I've noticed any particles in the bottom of the jug. Maybe it needs rinsing through a bit more? Our water tastes lovely, no metallic taste, but I suppose it's down to personal preference.

Thanks for replying. 😃 😄 I actually had a closer look to the instructions to see if they mention anything about these particles and they do say that you should flush the cartridge until the black bits disappear and if ingested they are not harmful to the human body which is great. I have now got used to the taste of water which it does taste good. 😃 😄 Probably it was just me so used to the bottled water. 😃 😄

Nice video,thanks for sharing...one little question:do you also have water around the filter in that space? I feel the filter is perfectly mounted and the filtered water is going through the filter,so I guess is ok,but why it is water around the filter,it is normal?

A few people have mentioned that, and yes it is normal. People worry that it is stagnant water but it is constantly being replenished and overflowing into the bottom part of the jug so its nothing to worry about! Thanks for watching! 👍🏼

@@thenazgul844 I much prefer the taste of filtered water. Where i used to live, the water was very hard and had a funny taste and that is why i initially bought one. When i moved where I am now 8 years ago, the water tasted OK but so much better (in my opinion) through the filter, so i kept it! And because it's kept in the fridge door the water is always nice and cold whatever time of year!

Yes, it's just to clean it through to make sure it's filtering properly and no tiny bits of the filter are in your drinking water!

I placed the cartridge into the hollow of the funnel and pushed it down as much as I could but there is still some space between the cartridge and the bottom of the funnel :( Do you think it's ok?

I think I didn't shake the filter well before & when soaking, when I took it out and put it in the container & put water in , there's still bubbles coming out. I pour the water & did it again & there's till bubbles coming out? What should I do?

Not sure I've had that problem before, but maybe take it back out and start the whole process again. I.e. take it out and shake it about in a jug full of water and follow all the steps again.
