This is a raw, un-cut video of how i try to change a 12v globe in a twist style downlight fitting when its stuck and just wont come out. This may help you, but wont help everyone. There are a few other ways I've put up you can try too. Paint usually sticks the fittings and makes it hard to do. ALWAYS turn OFF the electricity at the switch. TURN OFF THE POWER. and let the globe cool down first. These ways wont work for everyone, but may work for some people. Be careful when pushing up the globe, it will only go up a little way, and if you smash it it may cut your fingers, but i haven't smashed a globe or cut my fingers in 15 yrs so just be careful and you should be fine. If you feel unsure, don't try it, but this is how i have done it before. Paint may stick the fitting to the roof, if it has been painted all over , it may not come out and you need to break the seal of paint, to get the fitting out. Not all downlight fittings have spring clips either. Good luck!

When did light fittings become so complicated and potentially dangerous just to change a darned bulb? Give me the old tungsten bayonets any day.
Power off first folks, before you go jabbing your butter knife around. Then you can bash the crap out of it, to use the official name for the technique.
Wish you were closer. Having this exact problem and nothing works.

Sometimes the heat from the bulb can heat the paint and cause the parts to stick together. Especially if someone has painted over it before. Otherwise it may be another style of fitting, that only looks similar. A licenced electrician will be able to sort it out !

Without seeing what you've done, or what sort of fitting you have, it's a bit hard to know. But, you could try a downlight suction cap, under $10 from EBay, just attatches to the glass on the downlight globe, then you can pull it back. 'GU10 & MR16 LIGHT BULB REMOVER $8.33' Otherwise, if you take out the whole fitting from the ceiling , you can reach the globe, by reaching up the hole in the ceiling the downlight fitting was in. Depends how far up into the roof you pushed it but if it's just inside the fitting you should be able to use a 'downlight globe suction tool to get it back'. 👍
