Here's some advice after researching (a lot) about this topic : 1. Use kerosene or chain cleaner to clean the chain. Petrol and diesel damage O rings. Kerosene is by far the best option. 2. After spraying kerosene, let it sit for 5 mins. Then start the bike and put it in 2/3rd gear and let the rear wheel rotate so debris gets thrown out. (No need to exceed 30km/hr) 3. Use a high quality chain lube. Spray it only on the rings (O or X rings). Do it from above and below the chain. Using too much lube doesn't help but only damages the chain as it'll catch more dirt. 4. Do this every 500 kms. 5. Even if you dont like all the tips above, DO NOT EVER CLEAN/LUBE CHAIN WHILE ENGINE IS RUNNING. I'm no bumbass but I lost 2 fingertips. It is no joke. Use a proper middle stand or paddock or get a removable splendor middle stand if your bike doesn't have one. And rotate the wheel with hand.

But bro there's always a debate on what should we use to clean the chain, kerosene or diesel. A youtuber 'jeet bhaskar' says that kerosene is not safe for x or o rings and even bajaj says (on pulsar's owners manual) to not use kerosene .

@@jk-jf8kr Debate should be on if we should use kerosene or chain cleaner. Diesel is not even an option. I respect others' opinions about this matters but I prefer what I have experienced. We have tested diesel, kerosene and chain cleaner by motul, diesel is not good. With Kerosene and Motul we have received same results and kms on chains for R15 v2, v3 and fz. But we clean and lube every 500 kms ALWAYS. Now I cant say about other bikes but for above bikes kerosene does the job pretty well with fraction of the cost

@@IamPSR for short term you will not notice any difference but as you use it continuously it will harm the rubber and joints of the chain
