How To Catch Striped Bass With Live Eels At Inlets During The Night On Cape Cod

Спорт

***Full story available here myfishingcapecod.com/how-to-c...
Nighttime fishing for striped bass on Cape Cod during late October can be a dark and cold experience, and there are no guarantees you will find fish. The bass can be here one day and gone the next as they migrate south.
However one of the most reliable late season spots for me are Cape Cod's numerous inlets. And without a doubt one of the most effective baits to use at these inlets are live eels.
In this video I'll teach you how to catch striped bass (stripers) by using live eels at inlets. This video was filmed during October 2018 in the middle of the night on Cape Cod. I will include more information about the location in the members download available here myfishingcapecod.com/how-to-c...

    I agree! I love coyotes and we have lots of them here on Cape. Some of the coyotes are referred to as "coywolves" and they get quite large.

    Yes, I have fished this spot before during the daylight (which is always a good idea). Second, there was enough ambient light and light from my headlamp, so I could easily see the current edge and where the bottom dropped off. Thanks for watching Robert, and LMK if I can help answer anything else. 🎣

    When u drift the eel as far as your going to go, how fast do retrieve it? Do you catch mostly on the drift or the retrieve?

  • @MyFishingCapeCod

    I'll catch them on the drift and on the retrieve. When retrieving, you want to reel the eel as slowly as possible without getting hung up on the bottom.

    One or two smacks won't kill them. It will stun them so they don't curl up into an "eel ball" and tangle up the line. Keep me posted if I can answer anything else. Thanks for the comment!

  • @MyFishingCapeCod

    I'd only be concerned if I kept them in the bucket for days on end, or if I had like 50 eels in a bucket then I'd be concerned. A dozen or so eels in a bucket will be jut fine, especially if its nighttime and not hot out. Best option would be to have a bucket with holes in it, just to be safe. 👍🏻

    What rod rating do you recommend for eeling

  • @MyFishingCapeCod

    @MyFishingCapeCod

    Жыл бұрын

    I use a rod that’s rated for up to 3oz, but I’d be careful casting. I do a gentle “lob cast” because most of the eels are heavier than 3oz.
