Hello my favorite VB fishing couple. A lesson learned the hard way, don't slow the boat down after you hook one on the Clark spoon, it will let the hook come right out. Kristi, what a great video, so much excellent info here for one of our favorite seasons. Do one for Mahi next!! You guys rock!

Such fun fish to catch, definitely only see them down my way in south TX when water clears up. Fun to sight cast at in the surf, put up a heck of a fight, and good table fare!

Great video you guys, and kudos Kristi -- that was probably the best and most concise Spanish tutorial I have ever seen! One question regarding the gotcha plugs -- do y'all use wire leaders with those? My experience is limited, but I lost a few last time I fished Oregon Inlet and I think it was just because my monofilament leader was too light. It seemed like every other time I reeled one in, one or both of the treble hooks was wrapped around my line which I'm sure frayed it over time. I was thinking to go with a light wire leader next time to avoid the pain of casting out and watching the lure fly off into the abyss (and yes, in my case the knots were good ;)...

We got a charter in Murrells inlet, sc last year and the guide made a point of saying how leeter shy mackerel are. Do you find one specific leeter size works better than others?

What is the earliest saltwater fish to catch? A couple weeks ago I fished rudee like 3 weekends in a row and got skunked. I used everything from popping corks with minnows to paddle tails.

Disagree on the clear water statement. Here in the Mississippi Sound barrier islands the water is brown murky because of the Mobile River and the Mississippi River draining into it. Spanish mackerel and Blue Runners are VERY plentiful and easy to catch trolling a silver Clark Spoon barely off the back of the boat in the prop wash. Most productive times to catch them here is early morning and dusk.
