The only Possible way to catch Mew without TAS would be to Have the Master Ball Multiplier and be seriously skilled at keeping the ball on Mew's Head. COULD be doable, but very, VERY unlikely.

GBC TAS on Bizhawk or VBA isn't a bot 💀. Its him logging a button input for each frame of the "movie". The "movie". starts logging which inputs you want to use for all frames consecutively after power on of the console & pls do your research before accusing people of using bots.

@@zeusthefox1585 Master Ball is just a point multiplier. It won't increase the catch progress + it will devolve mid juggling.

Many comments saying "I saw mew, but didn't catch it." I think people need to read the description.

I love how the game even says how rare it is in it’s dex entry

I actually find it fitting that Mew is uncatchable without cheats, and I almost wish the spawn rate was lower too. Then you'd have to be super lucky just to see it! It would really have been one of those playground myths back in the day.

I can't help but to notice the timer is frozen at 3 minutes. Seeing that this is frame perfect, it took 3:22 to capture Mew, does that mean it's impossible to catch it?

I wouldn't say impossible, iirc the hits in this TAS were registered every 3 or 4 frames. That was the best I was able to get with a few hours of effort, but I can't say for certain that's as fast as you can go. If you were able to reduce that to 1 or 2 frames you could catch mew in well under the time limit. It's also possible that there's some sort of memory manipulation glitch you could pull off, but that's kind of stretching the definition of "possible."

@@th2gavst2r also doesn't the Ball Multipliers decrease how many hits are needed? My guess is you would need to have the master ball to get Mew within the timelimit with TAS. So strange that they did this....specially since it has a Dex Entry...they could of just made it un catchable and just used for points....but I bet they made it "Catchable" and gave it a dex entry so that kids could hack get it and spread rumors so more people would buy the game and try it themselves....That was the reason MewExisted in the first place. If it wasn't for Morimoto sneaking Mew into Red and Green at the last second the series might have never hit it off like it did.

Bro didn't read the description B4 commenting. Most annoying thing people do on YT. I can't believe that even six years ago, ppls brains had r0tted so much from social media that they don't comprehend the fact that descriptions exist and give you information or context. SMFH.

As of the current gen there at 1025 Pokémon not including forms etc

Even when using glitch and hack when you see the duration of video it's 4 min lol and people say that you haveo Only 3 min to catch Mew.

+vman339 "Only a few people have seen it worldwide" ;) It is theoretically possible, the only thing stopping you is how fast you can hit Mew. The fastest I could manage was still much too slow to finish in under 2 minutes, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are faster ways score hits which I haven't seen before. After all, most GB games are pretty buggy

I mean, before this I genuinely would compare this to an urban myth. "Oh yeah, bro, Mew might show up at random, and if you hit him over a thousand times with the ball in under 2 minutes you can catch him on Pokemon Pinball!" sounds like something you'd hear on the playground and immediately dismiss.

+Th2Gavst2r "Make sure you have a Master Ball(the 4th field multiplier ball) or at least the Ultra Ball(gold) before beating the Mewtwo Stage the 2nd time. Then you have about a 1/16 chance of having Mew appear if all three lights are lit or you get the Catch-Em bonus slot. You can only catch Mew with a Master Ball, so make sure that Staryu is open to upgrade your Ultra Ball to a Master Ball. It should take you about 10 attempts at catching Mew to keep your Master Ball long enough to catch him." duffrageous has his own video on the matter, it seems, and found the legitimate method, as insane as it is.

@@vman339 Most of that is true, but I can state with near-certainty from personal experience that under the right conditions, the probability of Mew appearing is significantly lower than 1/16.

holy damn, 2024 hits?! i remember encountering mew on the cartridge back in the day and failing after a few hits. i had no hope of actually capturing it.

Dobbs said you had to hit mew 1024 times in 3 minutes to catch it right? I did the math to see if Dobbs was right. I subtracted the time in the video when mew appeared and was able to get hit with the ball (0:18) from the time mew was surrounded by smoke (meaning he was about to get captured (3:31)) and I got 3:13. This either means the person who caught the mew stopped the time in the game (which is likely and also means mew is truly impossible to catch) or Dobbs accidentally said 3 minutes (which is probably just as likely and also means Dobbs was proved wrong by this guy). You're free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Måns Gezelius this is not a "hack". A TAS run is done thru an emulator that can do any input with frame perfect accuracy.

@@koma6465 TAS means using perfect machine inputs. When MOST people also use hacks or glitches along with TAS they also mention them in the video title, while when they're left out of the video title that would suggest it's TECHNICALLY possible to the thing, in this case catching Mew, without using glitches or hacking. (which this video obviously is not)

@@derekc2425 That's not entirely accurate. Sometimes a TAS can do inputs that are either too fast to be done manually, or are literally impossible, like hitting left and right at the same time on NES. So even though we see the TAS do it, it's not actual proof that it can be done manually.

@@derekc2425 I did see, which is why I'm saying that I kind of like that it's impossible without it, because even the TAS took more than 3 minutes to do it. If the clock starts at 0:10, it took until 3:21 to catch. So unless a new strat is found, it's impossible without the hack, even for a TAS.

You really have to hit Mew 1024 times to catch it? That sounds almost impossible

I had Mew appear and hit him more times than the average Pokemon and then lost the ball and got game over. I wondered how many times you needed to hit him to catch it. Is this video legit? How does it take over 1000 times? Talk about excessive.

This is tool assisted, and he froze the timer. Even with his tool assisted, perfect run, it took him more than the allotted 3 minutes to catch Mew. So even played frame perfect, Mew is unobtainable, and was probably made impossible on purpose.
