Well, considering that the game was called "Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire", kinda makes sense that they'd share some sound effects. Still, it's interesting to see some pokemon on the field that don't normally appear in Ruby and Sapphire, like the gen 2 starters. Sure, they have their data in the games, but you can't catch them and I don't know if any of the NPCs have them either.

I think you're confusing it with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, which does allow you to obtain the Gen 2 starters after you first beat the elite 4, but the only way to get the gen 2 starters in Gen 3 was to either get them from Colosseum and trade them over, or attend one of the IRL events where they gave them out. Only Typhlosion was given away outside Japan during Gen 3, though.

man i hit the ruby field so hard, my top score (as a kid! not the try-harder i'm now!) was around 3.8 billion, in comparison thesapphire field was like 700m

I don't remamber the exact score, but I know I reached 5 billion in Ruby and like 2 billion in Sapphire. Took me ages but hey. I completely exploded my dad's scores on this game.

outcasted Opal I think it's more that Sapphire is a lot slower and bulky. That long ramp, the Plusle and Minun door and the static Shroomish bumpers kind of makes the pinball board slower im general, and it's harder or longer to earn points. The Ruby one is a lot more fluid and conveniently structured, making mundane catches faster. And also the Duskull stage is a chore.

Its not "computer" , the game has slowed down and each input has been placed frame by frame , still a human being playing it but with assist tools , hence the name "tool assisted speedrun = tas"

I can only imagine the frustration of making this tas

Having played a lot, watching a TAS of this is so satisfying.

From the groudon fights, we can confirm that poke balls are made of steel because it makes the not very effective sound when hitting the lava protecting it and a normal effective sound while hitting groudon. I mean I could be made out of blender caterpie, but it’s most likely steel

Water resists Steel, so why does it make the normal effective sound when hitting Kyogre in the Sapphire stage? Maaaaybe it’s the blender Caterpie.

Thank you so much for reminding me of this game. I LOVED this game. I decided it was my official camping game as a kid, so whenever we'd go camping I'd play it on the drive down and back up. I'd play the same game without dying sometimes the entire trip, and sometimes multiple trips (I think I played on the slow mode though). I remember encountering Latias once and freaking out, because I had no idea she was in the game. I waited till we got home, drank some water, and literally stretched out and then took deep breaths to make sure I was in perfect shape to catch her. What a fun game

Here's a bonus mini-game: beat up a Kecleon to the point of almost dying.

The memories are real with this one! Brings me back to when I was 3 or 4 when my brother was going through his possessive Pokémon phase. And will never forget bringing this on car trips to the Bank playing this in the back seat!

Licensing is a tricky business, and it's virtually impossible to replicate the effects seen in this game on a physical table. Sure, they could make a table that didn't try to mimic this game or its predecessor, but you still have to make something that will draw enough players to earn back the development and production costs.

even with the resurgence in interest in pinball, i can't imagine it'd be very profitable, even if the table maker managed to snag a license as lucrative as pokemon. they're expensive to build, buy, and maintain, and arcades are an unstable niche business now.

It's just that developers have become so lazy and found better methods to make more and easier money, more efficiently. They don't care about people's statisfactions anymore these days. Also makes sense ever since the world has turned out to be an overpopulated wasteland (around the time when we passed the year 2000/2010, when social media started making their hits as well).

Hey, to be fair, poke ball is just half the chance an ultra ball can do it is still possible, what I don't understand is how can a poke ball hit the target and weaken a pokemon instead of simply catch it straight away.

Very satisfying to watch.

I'll never understand how after gen 3, during the time period of the DS and 3DS, both Dual Screen handheld consoles with many vertical options, in the time where they launched more Pokemon spin-offs like Ranger or Mystery Dungeon, and for the 10th and 20th anniversary of the franchise with an ever-growing roster of creatures and hardware more capable of both 2D sprites and 3D models, they didn't release a single new Pokemon Pinball after this. It was such a wasted potential.

Never played this game before but it’s cool how rayquaza looks shiny when it gets hit.

@@hokage1997 If you look at it frame by frame, you can tell that it's Rayquaza's normal coloring with a nearly transparent red overlay. In this case, the red makes the normal green have a brownish tint. If it was turning shiny, the color would be a distinct dark grey, not this brownish color. As for the red outline, that's caused by the parts of Rayquaza's body that are already red being accented by the red overlay. Lastly, you can see the yellow parts of Rayquaza's body turning an orange color, while shiny Rayquaza has the same coloring for its markings as normal Rayquaza. Side note: As I was looking up the sprites for comparison, I noticed that the Gen 3 games gave Rayquaza's mouth a blue color inside, while Gen 4+ has it red...

Ever since he was a young bot, he played the Pokeball. From Kanto down to Hoenn, he must have caught them all.

I also was able to catch every Pokémon except for the Latios in this game, as I never figured out how to get them. I may suggest using the master ball on the kecleons for the x4 multiple for 120mil points

I never really watched the cartoon as a kid, so I didn’t know any of these Pokémon except for pikachu. Played Pokémon go for like 10 months and now I can name pretty much every Pokémon in this level.
